My dealership only has one Eightball Vision on the floor right now, so it doesn't help answer my questions.

I need to know the vertical height difference between the standard windscreen and the large windscreen.
What I'm hoping for is that the standard windscreen in the full up position is the same height as the large windscreen in the full down position.
Yes/No?

I don't normally like to see through the windscreen, I prefer to look over it, but when the marble sized bugs get bad on my yearly trip to Key West I would like to raise the windscreen to deflect them.

I'm 6'4" tall and evenly proportioned between legs and torso, so I sit pretty high in the saddle.
My wife is 5'9" tall.
I'm trying to make sure she is somewhat protected from the wind and rain (at least until she falls asleep) because we are long distance travelers.

Have there been any negative issues with the taller windscreen (distortion, buckling under wind pressure)?

Since I am ordering the bike;
Is the large windscreen a dealership install or factory install?

Would any chrome I ordered be factory installed?

Will the factory put on my heal-toe shifter or the dealership?

If all are dealer installed, would I be out of line to request the removed parts or is that figured into to costs?

I am planning a 6-8 thousand mile trip next year that will include a few thousand miles in States where temperatures normally exceed 110 degrees in July.
Would you consider the lower air deflectors mandatory in that kind of climate?
I rode a Harley Ultra through Vegas 6 years ago (117 degrees) and my thighs were on fire and my wife nearly passed out from the heat coming off the bike.
Does the oil cooler help much?

The Harley's will shut down when they get too hot, what will the Vision do?

First, Congrats on your soon-to-be-purchase! You will love the bike more than you can yet imagine.

Windshield travel is about 5 inches. The optional large windshield is 2" taller than the stock shield (stock shield is ~17.5" tall). There's also a 2" shorter shield available (~15.5" tall). FYI, the 8ball Vision has the "Blade" windshield which is about 11.5" tall.

There's been few if any issues with the taller shields. Optical distortion at the edges is the only thing I've heard, and only some have it. No buckling or cracking. they're pretty strong.

Windshield can be installed at home, it's very easy. Otherwise, it's a dealer install. A good dealer will install it for no charge, it's that easy.

All chrome would be a dealer installed item if you don't do it yourself. Same with the heel-toe shifter, but again, someone with average mechanical ability should be able to do it themselves. Most Victory-branded accessory parts come with instructions.

Your request for return of swapped-out parts is totally acceptable. You paid for them, you should get them.

I suggest riding the bike without the lower deflectors and see how it feels. You are the best judge on your heat endurance. The deflectors can also be put on by you or a dealer and are usually a quick ordered part.

Oil cooler helps the engine significantly. Don't remove it. The Vision have been tested in desert heat and can withstand more heat than a HD and probably more heat than you!

Hope this helps!

My only recommendation on top of what Jeff said is to look at the CeeBailey windshield if you are looking for more protection. They offer a 22" tall windshield. That is roughly 2" taller than Vic's tall windshield. It is also a little wider than any of the Vic screens. My only complaint is that it has a rounded top vs. the more square cut on the Vic's. You can also get them tinted.

I second the Cee Bailey. I went with the taller 22" and still see over it when full down, but it is nicer than the stock in shape and function IMO. I am only 6' 1", so you should have no problem with seeing over it and being behind it when extended. Easy install.

The Cee Bailey is nice but also check out the 7Jurock...

It is tall & wide without the distortion, I got the tallest they had,

and in the lowered position I can look thru it and still feel some wind

on my helmet. In the upper position I'm in the bubble!

I had a 2008 Harley-Davidson Road Glide and the only thing I did not like about it was that it cooked my thighs.

The VV does not cook you thighs, but it does get hot as other cycles do. I would get the lower deflector, it makes a big different keeping your legs cool and when it rains, it helps to keep your legs dry.

I just finish a 29 day trip (Over 8,000 miles) and I was glad they were on the bike.

Where are you planning to go next year?

In addition the 7 Jurock appears to come with a nice Victory logo etched into the lower part of the windshield, looks good IMO. According to their web site there are a whole list of sizes to order from.

I also agree that the lowers are a huge plus in heat, rain and cold. I did not get them right away. I thought the bike did a nice job of wind management. Then the wife bought me the lowers for my birthday, what a HUGE difference. For all weather riders I feel they are a must. jmo

Thanks to all who responded.

I will get the Victory Tall Windscreen, heel-toe shifter, 3 luggage compartment bags, and lower deflectors.

Lonestarrider asked;
"Where are you planning to go next year?"

I live near Akron/Cleveland Ohio.
I have been going to Key West the last two years and will go again this coming year.
Sometimes I stop at New Orleans first.
Second planned trip;
I want to visit my daughter again in Phoenix, then go to either San Diego or Tijuana and ride the entire length of the west coastline all the way to Vancouver Washington, then back home VIA Canada or through the USA Rockies.
I would love to shoot up to Alaska, but that would require a rear tire change.

These 2 seperate trips could be altered to instead do a 4 corners trip which of course includes Key West.

Last year I rode 6,400 miles in 9 days riding through 17 western states.
Favorite parts of that ride were;
The Ponderosa Pines of New Mexico, Northeast of Santa Fe. (SR-4)
Arizona
Hoover Dam
Nevada and Vegas
Southern Utah was fantastic! (2 days)
Western Colorado
Wyoming crossing into Montana on the Beartooth Highway, also rode Chief Joseph Highway
South Dakota's Badlands and Black Forest.

The last 4 years of trips have been on a Burgman 650 Executive scooter, including four, 1,000 mile plus runs in under 24 hours. (unofficial saddlesore)
This Victory Vision will be my last bike and I wanted to go out in style.

Bigfoot,

Yes welcome to the world of Vision. And congrtaulations on owning the best touring bike ever made. I'm on the West Coast in Southern California, Ventura County to be exact. When taking that west coast trip email me at pcnova54@yahoo.com so we can hook up and ride the coast and share a meal. Hope to meet you someday out here, in the meantime continue to enjoy the beauty out there all around us when riding out Visions.

Peace,
PC

Bigfoot: I have the three-bag set, and, while they are well-built, the side bags are hard to get out of the saddlebags when full. Good choice on your bike. Mine is a 2008 cherry tour, and I love it! Had it since new, and VERY few problems, especially for a first year bike. ----Metalguy
