| Has anyone noticed that the Vision is not mentioned as being in the top two in some motorcycle magazines? #1 BMW 1200RT and #2 Honda Gold Wing. What?s going on? |

Pitt Meadows, BC Canada | No bother. No one goes up to take a second look at ANY other bike. Maybe other bikes have some percieved mechanical edge on the Vision - but it does the job with the advantage of being absolutely the BEST looking bike - EVER !!! |

| Well, I just did an online search and Motocycle.com has the Vision #1 and the Gold Wing #2 on one page and on another it has the BMW #1 and the Honda #2. I was in Walmart last night just thumbing through mags. I remember Cycle World picked the Gold Wing as #1.
It?s just interesting how everyone has different likes and dislikes. I have had my 09 Vision for a little over a year and it has been joy to ride compared to my 04 Ultra.

Vancouver, B.C. & La Quinta, CA | Not really important what a writer says. Untried the wing and the Beemer. Both beautiful tourers and worthy rides. I preferred the VV because it provides me with the room I need and the steady rumblenof a good amerIcan V Twin is most reassuring riding solo on a lonely backroad. My bddies ride HD and are always behind and wanting to stop to do a walk about. I rode HD for over 30 years and can understand why they need to get off their rides regularly. Don't worry about reviews, some are good some are so so and it will always be.

| I think it has everything to do with what the testers are used to. Most of the bike magazine writers spend most of their time on more sporty bikes. One of the big differences between the Beemer/Wing and the Vision is the riding position. Anyone who spends most of their time on sporty bikes will immediately feel more at home on bikes that have foot pegs positioned directly below or behind their butts compared to the Vision's floor boards and foot forward position. The Vision is only my second recent bike with this style of riding position and I can tell you it took a while for me to get used to it and feel confident particularly at slow speeds. I'm at the point now that I actually prefer riding the Vision to my GS which I never thought could happen.
Another consideration is the amount of time the writers actually spend on the bikes they test. I ride weekly with Gary Prickett from MCN and he often has test bikes for our rides. Normally he'll have one for 2-3 days which isn't much time to spend on a totally unfamiliar bike like the Vision. These guys have test ridden Goldwings and Beemers many times over the years so they're familiar with them before they ever get on the newest model. As for the Vision, most of them have never even sat on one before and then they get a day or so to ride it and form an opinion. It takes longer than that to develop a real appreciation for what this bike can deliver.
There certainly are other reasons that come into play when testing bikes but those are two of them. The other point we should acknowledge is that when comparing the '10 and older Vision to other bikes the harsh transmission sticks out like a sore thumb. Hopefully that has been fixed for '11 (I haven't ridden one yet) but when comparing it to something like a Wing or Beemer that is so smooth and quiet it certainly doesn't make the best impression.

This statement is so very true! If you want to receive an unbiased opinion subscribe and read Motorcycle Consumer News. It is a monthly that accepts NO paid advertisingand is entirely subscriber supported. There is a wealth of info in each issue you won't find in the "mainstream" rags. |

Interesting take. I think it would be hard for a "tester" to not develop some sense of brand loyalty through the years. These cats are also "owners" as well, right? Through the years they may have settled in to what the other touring bikes consistently bring to the table, and can't quite wrap their heads around something that is outside that box and is re-defining what a "touring" experience is. Prying open their grip on the big three tourers and letting someone new in, will take more than the 3 years of the young Vision.

"Several of us agreed that with its excellent suspension, cornering clearance, powerful brakes, comfort, and smooth and quiet operation the Victory was the pick of the litter in terms of function, though its lack of luggage space was disappointing. It only came in third, however (scoring an amazing first, second, third and fourth, for 10 points), because of styling that one tester called ?absurd.? If it hadn?t been for its Buck-Rogers-meets-?57-Chevy styling, the Victory Vision Tour Premium would have won this contest easily".
The Vision's styling is "Love it or Hate it".

Baltimore, Md | To drop the Vision out of contention despite it winning the important statistical comparisons due to its subjective styling is kind of like saying the Yankees had the most hits, runs, rbi's and pitching but we didn't like their uniforms - therefore, the Yanks lose the World Series. |

Why yes I do...in fact the SSG in my garage right now is probably the best touring bike in the world...for me. You see, there are a couple of reasons, I really like it...and it's paid for! |

With that said, beauty is always in the eyes of the beholder, and those who know find the Vision absolutely beautiful in every regard. |

I retract this comment, after thinking about it, the Vision is like a woman so beautiful she's intimadating, so much so men are afraid to even speak to her. That is what the Vision is to the Harley and other crowd and write her off because they just don't understand her for what she is. |
