I spent better part of a day on polaris/victory web site looking for information. I bought a second hand vision 08 and wanted to find out about warranty if i get any acknowledgment from them about being a owner or a hi welcome to the polaris/victory family. There was nothing and I emailed them and I got back a stander reply call this number and they will tell me about spending $35 dollars with them to get 4 news magazines a year from them and I will get towing 24/7 but they don't say where I'll be towed. Harley says nearest dealer and if its warranty work you get a motel on them.
I understand that they sell a lot of different recreational toys but gee I spend you spend thousands of dollars and you get nothing out of them except go to your local dealer. Well I did 68 miles to that and got a quick run down in between him answering the phone looking up parts and being him self. He did tell me the extended warranty is not from polaris/victory but from a company that sells warranty's like the kind you see on TV or in your junk email or mail. That's why for the most part it takes so long for a ok and approval. Not even the dealers for the most part know this. Harley does the same thing. I am sure all motorcycle companys do this. I have bought use harleys and all ways revived a letter from them when the bike is under warranty and have welcome me. I have a good dear but the polaris/victory network sucks and if they read some of the post here could be way bigger then they are thats for sure.
I mean this is a small world we ride in and we have the power to make company's grow or die off. It will not happen over night but they will shrink and fall by the way side.

Huh? You are just rambling.

Victory did not get your money - the person who sold you the bike did. Only the original owner of the bike gave Victory money and even then it was really the dealership. So why do you think they "owe" you something?

Seems a bit arrogant to think that since you got a "used" bike, the mfg owes you something.

If you got a 10 year old used car from a used car dealership would you also expect the mfg to send you a welcome to the family card?

Get real - wanting good service is one thing, but this is pushing it just a bit.

I think maybe some are reading this differently then I did. I think the complaint is more with the lack of attention to a customer both by the person answering the phone at Victory and at the dealer he choose to go to......regarding his questions about the warranty. I thought he was looking for acknowledgment that the warranty was valid/in effect......which he didnt get any help from. I also thought the reference to receiving correspondence was also reference the warranty.......and not a "hey you bought a used motorcycle with our name on it heres a free leather jacket, patch etc"

.....but maybe I read it wrong.

Tarpits,

Thanks for such a ?written response, seriously. It is nice to have someone who will "throw the ball back" my way. I hope I can take it just as well as I can dish it out. I do not disagree with you about customer service. I do feel that the best customer service Victory can give me is to make a reliable bike with a low cost of maintenance which makes a great commuter as well as recreational vehicle. That is all I ask for. Someone sending me a welcome packet when I buy a used bike is not a top priority. I know it matters to some, but not to me.

Now, about the other words you put in my mouth. I don't blame taxes on the poor business environment. I do believe with my whole heart that increasing taxes in a recession is the worst thing that could possibly be done to "help" the people, and most likely to prolong the peoples economic recovery. This great land belongs to the people; you, me, and every other citizen, not to big business. I have had the?privilege?of living overseas for several years as an expatriate. I know the freedoms some people take for granted. I also understand why some businesses choose to relocate operations outside the U.S., even mama Polaris. I don't blame them for remaining as competitive as possible. I?applaud?them. And when enough businesses do the same, perhaps the American people will come to their senses and stop extracting such exorbitant taxes from those "Filthy, Rich Businesses and Small Business Owners" such as myself. I didn't contradict myself there, I just acknowledged both sides of the argument..?

About the paltry taxes I pay in Tennessee. I choose to live her after relocating over a decade ago. Among those factors was the low cost of living, relatively low tax rate, and beautiful scenery. But like elsewhere, taxes are rising. Chattanooga taxes are much higher than the surrounding areas due to its urban infrastructure, but probably still lower than most metropolises. Average income is also lower than most, but higher than the surrounding areas. And Chattanooga is seeking more "revenue enhancements". They have failed to pass an increase in the mill rate, so they increased my homes appraisal to 50% higher than it's actual worth. I protested and it was reduced after my second rejection by less than 10%. Another one is an EPA fine is being passed on only to business owners, churches, etc. but not private citizens. A local church claims to have been assessed over $13,000 annually due to water runoff from it's parking lot and roof. It is levied by the City of Chattanooga.

When I started my business five years ago, I was?naive. I believed a lot of things which I have found now to be false about business. I run the best franchised business of it's kind in a the area. Out of over 4000 like businesses, our in store operations including guest satisfaction is 10th best in the country. But it is a retail food business and it is affected greatly by the economy and peoples belief in an economic recovery. Despite running solid business operations, many factors are beyond my control.

There are more points I could make to counter your statements, I can PM you if you'd like. But I have paid far more in taxes than I have kept. I am an honest taxpayer, to a fault my wife would say. I'm sure I could have gotten away with paying less, but I wouldn't sleep as well at night.?

Best wishes.

BAADAWG:

We may be forced to take out conversation off line unless we can keep it relevant to the post and the motorcycling theme. While we may disagree, I find a good argument almost as satisfying as a country ham biscuit or a run down Natchez Trace Parkway. So lets see where this goes. No loud voices, I promise not to take anything personally.

Tennessee is blessed with an environment / landscape that is second to none, a highway road system that gives riders virtually endless choices of good riding and destinations that make the off bike time fun and interesting as well.

A couple of years ago you guys went through a terrible drought. Idiots in the Georgia legislature who have been allowing the bulldozing and paving of the Georgia forest and watershed at a rate of 100 acres per day for the last 40 years suddenly discovered that their northern border was in the wrong place and attempted to annex part of Tennessee so that they could access the Tennessee River water, and keep on doing exactly the same thing that got them into their mess in the first place. Why does this sound familiar?

I came home for a my cousins wedding at the height of the drought and saw my previous home surrounded by dead 50 year old trees and burned ratty looking bermuda grass. Most of Tennessee biggest problem with water had always been flooding and now the most of state was on water rationing. Clean drinking water was becoming scarce. My old riding roads were depressing, the trees dead or dying, fire on a western scale was becoming a real possibility.

Westerners don't take water for granted, and the South now has to face the same issues due to population growth and building practices.

The state of Tennessee responded in a number of ways and in 2009 they passed water run-off regulations that assessed a fee for all residents / businesses (and yes churches) based on the amount of paved or hard surface to help pay for programs that addressed water pollution, reclamation facilities to protect the water table. EVERYBODY in every city, pays the fee. It is a fixed rate for your residence, and included in your water and sewer bill.

To my mind its a small price to pay for keeping a place like Tennessee, green, beautiful and livable. You do not want to become southern California (or Atlanta).

Have to go to work...... but If you want to continue the discussion let me know.

Well, while speaking of 'Lame'...........................

I've been told that I purchased the very 1st Cross Country sold. That was on 10-28-09 according to the letter I got this a.m. It was a letter congratulating me on my new purchase and included a copy of the extra year's warranty, etc. The date of this letter is June 16, 2010. The envelope it was mailed in is stamped Sept. 20, 2010.

Beats me how these folks stay in business

Just wish they would send me a survey about there backing up there DEALERS..My dealer is getting frustrated at them....he is a multy brand dealer, Yamaha , Suzuki...now thinking of droping Victory because of the lack of support... If I buy a used bike from someone else I should get a "Welcome Wagon" from corporate? But of course the local dealer should welcome me with open arms and not try to sell me anything? Go back to the one that sold you the used bike and ask if they have an extended warranty. Simple.
Most used vehicle extended warranty companies are 3rd party. If you get an extended warranty when you buy the bike new it most likely would be from GE but the dealer might sell you one from a 3rd party and those you tend to have problems with. Of course the posts on this during you research would have turned this up.
I have to agree from your posts that you probably should have stayed with HD cause they would give you the service you are used to.
When you researched Victory before buying your used bike you must have read the many, many, many posts about having to deal with the Victory dealers and not Victory.
"I mean this is a small world we ride in and we have the power to make company's grow or die off. It will not happen over night but they will shrink and fall by the way side." This is not the first time I have read something like this with the same complaint and Victory is still going strong.

Roadrocket, I know exactly what you mean. I bought my 2008 Kingpin Premium last November (the saturday after thanksgiving). JUST THIS WEEK, I finally got my 5 year warranty certificate and paperwork.

Yep, that's right. It took basically 10 months for that letter to get from Minnesota to Missouri. I could have rode up there when it was hot back in July down here and picked it up.

Whatever. I love my bike and don't hope for a "mechanical breakdown." Just glad I finally got something - after calling 2-3 times.

Later.
