Mt. Vernon, WASH. | Me too! The weather finally warmed up enough last Saturday that I decided to see if synstr would start after sitting under her cover on the carport all Winter. Pulled the cover back, stuck the key in and turned it, the fuel pump didn't even click so I pushed the starter and around she went about 3 revolutions and lit off like I'd parked it an hour ago, not 3 1/2 months ago-
Of course I ALWAYS keep the Battery Tender plugged in (has anyone figured out why us old fat guys with bad knees and backs need to crawl around on the ground to plug the charger into the bike?) I've got a VICTORY Accessory shorty pigtail tha's supposed to do the task via the glove box socket thingie but the battery tender flashes red whenever it's plugged in or re-route the bike end of the cable to somewhere else like the forward edge of the fairing using the fork cutout area, a couple of 'sticky feet' and a couple of Panduits? |

New Bohemia, Va | I think you could run it through that empty space under the "tank" to just forward of the seat as I thought someone else has done. That way you could just pull the tail down from it's hiding place and plug it in. That's what I would do I used to the tinkle charger. I would never use any of those reverse chargers from the cig-plug, that seems like asking for trouble on our oversized iPod players. |

The socket in your glove box is switched with the ignition key. You can't charge your battery through it. If you have the trunk on your bike, you can charge your battery through the socket in the trunk, since it is hot all the time. Be sure to switch your trunk light off if you use it. If you install the accessory power socket below the right speaker on the trunk, it makes plugging in your battery tender real easy and convenient to plug in and unplug. I'm old and fat and have bad knees too.

Thanx for that bit of info and it sounds like a pretty lame idea to not be able to use something that's 'right there' and convenient. It also explains why the pig tail is such a PITA to remove. I have a 'street' so no lunchbox and no outlet socket, wonder if I could come up with a jumper that I could plug into the unused plug under the seat????????????????? |
