Arkainzeye - 2008-12-14 7:52 AM Does anyone know how hard it is to remove the stock mufflers? is there a online manual or whatnot to explain whats needed in order to remove them.

First remove the gray access covers located directly underneath the seat, two pushpins in the front, pull the center of the pin out and then pull the pin out. Then remove the gray panel below the rear taillamp, unclip the plastic below the lamp, remove two screws from the underside of the panel. Then remove the side covers below the saddlebag lids, screws along the top edge of the panel, close the lid and then slide out the side cover. Then carefully tip the bike over onto the tipovers, this will make muffler access MUCH easier. Then you will see two bolts that go from the mufflers to the rear body, remove the nuts, and also remove the little black "spacers". Then remove the bolt at the bottom rear of the muffler. Then loosen the two clamps at the very front of the muffler. Now the muscle comes in, grab the muffler and twist inwards towards the bike, just need to get the two studs to slide out of the holes in the brackets. Once you get the studs out you can take a rubber mallet and tap the muffler and it should come out fairly easy. Install the new muffler and then lift the bike up and place it on the other tipover and repeat for the other side.

Technicallity wise this is an easy job, no specialty tools needed. The hardest part is going to be tipping the bike over. Time wise it shouldn't take long, maybe 30 minutes per muffler.

All of the pretty pictures and other details are in the service manual which is located here

Hey 1atom12... I got the ATOM BOMBS on my Vision. The money I saved I also put on the Lloyds Fuel Pak and the K&N Air Filter with the Llyods intake plate. WOW...... The big boy bike is back on the rode. Better throttle response. AWESOME SOUND EXHAUST. For under $200 bucks for the exhaust you can not get any better bang for your buck. You just gotta do it. The baffle is the same size as the Ness Big Honkers at less than half the cost. Thanks BOB The MUFFLER GUY. The Vision just got faster. The dealer ship tells me that I should be around 110 horsepower with this upgrade. You can FEEL the power.

Your dealer really needs to quit smoking crack. With what you have you should be around 88-92HP, and 101-105FtLb. Sorry to break it to you, but you are going to have tro crack the motor to get over 100HP

i agree with you Kevinx, there aint no way your getting 110hp from a simple bolt on muffler and replacement k&n air filter. Even with cams i doubt your going to get that.

Cams, intake plate, Exhaust, and Fuel controller WILL make 110. The ONLY reason Devilboy's bike did not hit 110 is that with the stock map I could not get enough fuel in her

I was under the impression that the Fuel Controller could take the place of the mapping for you. That, in effect, you could get upgraded pipes and use the FC to remap the fuel? I take it by your statement that I am incorrect in my assumption?

Adding pipes, and an intake plate; the VFC will be enough as is. Throw the extra need createde by the cams, and there is simply not enough adjustment available YET. I say yet because after talking at length with Lloyd he plans to re-write some code for the VFC, and that will allow more fuel to be added with his unit for cam install

1atom12 i wanted to ask you what is your total price having the atombomb pipes, k&n air filter and victory stage 1 level 1 map installed. I ask cause my dealer will sell me a stage 1 level 1 pipe (kit) for $499. i wanted to see what the price difference was between your setup and the dealer setup it just what everything cost. I seen the atombombs on ebay for $200 plus $22 shipping PLUS your cost to ship them too him. i was trying to factor everything in. but i dont know what the k&n cost plsu i couldnt find a sure price on the stage1 level 1 map.. im wondering.. im glad i didnt send out my pipes recently as we got hit with a heat wave! i would of lost my mind if i sent out my pipes and then we got this 70F weather.. it was nice to ride.

I don't think the K&N filter is that big a deal. Riding in all the rain here in Florida wrecked the K&N filter that came with my L1S1 upgrade. First time I pulled it out there wasn't a drop of oil left on it and the metal mesh had started to rust. I cleaned and oiled it. Next time it was inspected it looked like crap. I cannot get it clean. I had put the paper filter in while I was waiting for the K&N to dry and the bike ran better. I haven't riden much in the rain lately, but I plan on leaving the stock filter in. I'm not sure but I think the remap is $100.

Happy New Year

if you install the atombombs sure you have the dealer install the stage 1 level 1 map? OR the stage 1 level 2 map? The pipes breathe better than stage 1 level 1's right?

"I don't think the K&N filter is that big a deal. Riding in all the rain here in Florida wrecked the K&N filter"
I have to ask, when you say the K&N filter did you install one or are you calling the Vision stock filter a K&N? When I saw the filter on the Vision at the NY IMS show I strongly doubt it's a K&N. It looks cheap(low quality) compared to any K&N filter I have seen plus it did not have the K&N red color. If you have rust on your filter the only way to stop from rusting is to remove ALL the rust. Rust is like a cancer if you don't get rid of all of it, it just fires up again.
I ask this because my '99 V92C has a K&N filter that has been on her for about 8 years. No rust at all. When I clean her and reoil her she looks like she did when she arrived from Lloyd. Just so you know I do not have the upper or lower parts of the airbox on the bike. The air filter on the "old" motors is right in front. Anyone that rides with me knows I don't stop for rain.
I don't do the high performance stuff to my bikes. I have K&N filters because I buy 1 and it lasts me as long as I own the vehicle.

Lloyd, Kevinx is it a K&N filter that is a stock filter on the Vision? Maybe I am wrong? Don't tell me K&N is making a "cheapo" filter just for the Vision.

Interesting to look back to 2008 and see how ideas start small then build. In this case, the Atom Bombs. That's why I love this fourm
