I've had a problem where the upper deflectors won't stay put. At about 75 mph with a good head wind they'll end up turning inward. The problem seems to have started after installing Cycleops aluminum replacement pieces even though I never had this problem on my '10. Maybe the extra weight of the aluminum has something to do with it.

It turned out to be pretty easy to tighten them up. You need to remove the front fairing cover to get at them. There is a black plastic cap on the top of each assembly and a clear plastic washer between the cap and the rubber tensioning device. I removed all three pieces and made a gasket using the plastic washer as a template out of .040" thick neoprene. I installed the new gasket under the rubber piece which raises it up .040". I reassembled everything and the deflectors now have about 50% more drag than they did before solving the problem.

The parts involved can be seen on the OE parts fiche under Body, Fairing. The three parts are #7, 8, 9.

Funny, I was just wondering about. My bike is stock. At highway speed the right side won't stay in. It deploys itself about half way out. Thanks for tip.

You don't have to do all that. One of the bolts that you probably removed to disassemble those pieces is an adjustment for it. Tighten it up and it puts more pressure on the rubber donut. If you take the front valence off and have an extension, you can snug them up and no more free movement by wind

Not the case with mine. Both caps were screwed tight to their pivots. That was the first thing I checked before taking it apart. I was hoping The two top screws are self tappers same as the ones that hold the deflectors on, BTW.

Oh that stinks. I've never seen that happen before! Yeah t20 Thor screws if I remember correctly. Hopefuls cw1115 won't have to go through all of the trouble you did. Sounds like. A simple, nobrainer fix though. Thanks for the info
