I have a 2009 Vision Tour Premium. I installed the CB/intercom kit myself.

During a recent ride to Florida, the CB stopped transmitting, but I could still receive. Once we stopped, turned off the bike and restarted, it was ok until the transmission stopped again. Any ideas?

Also, the radio/CB locked up again as it has before. I could not do anything, i.e. change volume, cb channel, radio channel, etc. Radio even stayed on after bike was turned off. I had to disconnect the battery to reset the radio.

possibly loose or pushed back pin in a plug, bad ground, did you have the antenna RFI'd? usually it's one of those three that messes up CB installations, I haven't used one in years, truckers won't talk to you because they think you're a cop if they don't hear that Hummin' Cummins, few if any cars still use them since the advent of the smart phone, they're kinda like 45 RPM records

Check your Hardware and Software versions to see if they are compatible. There have been several updates of both the stereo and the CB/Intercom.

To do this:
1. Turn the ignition switch to ACC and turn the radio OFF.
2. Turn the ignition switch OFF
3. Turn the ignition switch back to ACC
4. PRESS & HOLD the #1 preset button and MODE button while turning the radio power ON

You will now be in diagnostics mode. Press the MODE button to scroll through all the screens. The first screen will show the radio software (SW) and hardware (HW) revisions installed. The next screen will let you check the operation of all the radio control buttons. You will see all zeros until you push a button, then a 1 should show up that corresponds to that button when it's pressed. The third screen shows the location of the tuner (USA). Fourth screen shows the status of the radio amplifier. Fifth screen shows the vehicle speed. Subsequent screens show the SW and HW revisions of your XM if you have it, or will scroll back to the first screen if not.

You may need to have your radio or CB reflashed if the revisions installed aren't compatible.

Thanks for the tips fellows. Our motorcycle club uses the CB for communication on trips, makes it very easy for Ride Captain and Tail Gunner to communicate with everyone else, especially when we have a big group spread out over a mile or two.

RDBUDD,

Thanks for the information. I checked my bike and found this out...

Radio
Software version 5.12A
Hardware Version 1
Boot Version: 5.08A

CB
Software version : 5.09A
Hardware version: 6

What can you conclude from this? I think the radio version is compatible with the hardware, but maybe the CB software needs to be flashed up to version 6?

Take it to the dealer. They will update the software version to the latest version. I had mine done earlier this year and think it is 5.14 (not sure till I get home tonight). The process takes all of about 15 minutes. I wouldn't futz with cables or anything until this is done. A number of us have had similar stories until all the components are at the same software version.

Also, after they are done, go back into the radio diagnostics again and confirm that the radio and CB are at the same software level. This process can be confusing for the dealer as EACH component needs to be updated. My dealer thought that once the radio was done, that was all that was needed.
