I ordered my Bridgestone Potenza in January from tire rack. It has been on backorder and bridgestone can't even give a production date. From what I've read on here you should run the 185/55/16 if you have the hitch. This size tire is had to get. My question is if the 195/55/16 is the same as the E3 which I now have with the hitch, is the clearance tighter with the bridgestone? I ride mostly 1 up and only pull a trailer a few times a year. I can find many choices in the 195 ( in stock ) but very few in the 185.

It is the same height and width, but because it is 'squarer' it is wider at the outer edge than the E3 where the hitchdoc could come into contact.

I have read that the 185 give you about a 1/4 more clearance on the sides
There are plenty riding on the dark side and love it.

There are other sources besides Tire Rack. While Tire Rack may tend to be cheaper I've found that local tire dealers will match price if asked. Just because Tire Rack may have it on backorder I would think a local shop can get one, they use different warehouses to get their tires.

And the general consensus is that the 195 will rub a hitch.

There are plenty of guys running the 195.....but I wanted the 185 for a bit of extra clearance.

2 up with the trailer it still rubs in a hard bump though.

If your mostly 1 up and not very big I might go the 195.....but if you want the 185, check locally like the other poster said.

I got mine at a local dealer. 2 days wait.....paid $112 for the Potenza.

Got it at Expert Tire.....check them out if you have them in your area.
