I'm new here and it being my first post, please be gently abusive, not overtly! Also, I did a search but couldn't find anything there either, so I'm posting here against advice from those on here that ya'll won't be very nice to me.

I just bought my Vision 4 years ago in a few days and I'm barely getting to know her after 58,000 miles. It seems we have barely scratched the surface of what we can do together and how it will all pan out. I think the relationship is still strong, but there is some paint removed from the rear lower fascia that I'll have to repair but I think we'll make it.

I posted this over on another thread but I thought it might be better discussed here in its livable post all by itself.

It seems most of us don't utilize this machine to its fullest potential and there's a racer to be unleashed under all that plastic. This has got me to thinking. What if, you were to remove all the body work and give it some really close skinned exterior like a sport bike, what would it look like. Lose the saddlebags, squish the front end closer to the framework, trim the front fender. Get some handlebars more forward, so you have a bit more of an attack angle.
What would this package perform like?
What would it look like?
Would it look like the CORE they were promoting on the show circuit.
Would it handle like a sport bike and shame all others?
Sometimes I wish I had the money to try crazy ideas that pop in my head. I have had a couple of runs with some sport bikes in the straight away and in the twisties and I can hang pretty good.

I realize alot of this possibly has to do with the fact that some sport riders still don't know how to ride agressive. Also, I'm no where near being a racer, but I do ride dirt bikes quite agressively and sometimes that leaks over into the street occassionally.

I'm done rattlin', please be gently, the moon is out and I'm being quite sensitive and passionate about certain things.

I ain't never rode one of them there sports bike you speak of, but I find that this is one agilly bike for me. It allows me to do things that makes me say, "wow, how did I get away with that?" Take it all off and fix some lights to it from tractor supply to keep it legal, then give it a whirl.

A little knowledge of physics & math might help, Newbie.
Let's see: 950lbs minus 200lbs of bodywork = 750lbs. Any 'decent' sport bike is under 500lbs. Advantage: Sport bike
How about: 110hp Vision minus 160hp Sport bike = - 50hp to Vision. Advantage: Sport bike

So, is a heavy, underpowered semi-sport bike gonna stay with a real sport bike? Yah, Newbie ... you just outdrive them, right?

Good luck with that. Maybe stick with posting this stuff on the other site, 'eh Newbie ???? Sheesh
