Hey guys and gals, Its been a while since I've posted. It saddens me to see we've lost a few good friends and fellow riders and my condolences go out to all.

Anyhow I wanted to let folks know they can email me direct if they need assistance with hitch wiring or other technical type questions at "tbeck99@msn.com." I've recieved a number of PM's here with regards to the wiring and such, only to leave folks hanging because I don't get to the site much these day.

So if you feel the need, feel free to email me direct, and I apologize to those folks I didn't get back with sooner.

I'm looking at the Crosscountry still, but haven't pulled the trigger, lol, but who knows maybe soon.

Have a safe riding season....... T

Pull the trigger, at least once and let us know, it's about time for you to switch anyway and I'd love to read the write up on the old scoot and the new scoot. Hurry quickly, today only gets shorter.

I agree with pollolittle. Which makes me a little frightened.

Pull the trigger and get back to the forum Teach, you're missed.

Lol, yep seriously considering but I have a few details to work out. I'm road tripping to AK from PA next summer and dealers for repairs needs to be checked on just in case. You know how it goes, loads of polaris dealers but are they Victory dealerships that can fix the bike in a pinch...

Oh and for those interested in an update on the HD? Well it runs great, no issues or warranty work needed yet, but I'm having a terrible time getting use to it. You'd figure a years riding and 15k would have me feeling right at home, but not... This is the reason I'm looking hard at the CC

Ahhh, the old Victory syndrome. Once you've tried it, you keep coming back like crack.

I've not thought of anything else since grabbing a Victory - best bike on the planet. I did test ride some Harleys about two Saturday's ago and was seriously disappointed with the cramped style and underpowered 103. Yet, I guess it is a family thing. My secret love has always been an Indian, but the main squeeze will always be a Victory. Hey, if I get an Indian, that'll be like messin' with her sister...

Ok guys you asked so here goes. Took the CrossCountry ou today for a test ride. The dealer here was bending over backwards to make a deal, real good guy. However after taking the CC ou I decided to stick with my HD for now. Several reasons for my decision and I'll try to detail them for you. First off the Vic is far more confidence inspiring in the twisties, but like the Vision there is a knack to slow speed tight manuevers. So nod to Vic on twisties and HD on the slow stuff, I'll call this a wash. Speed, tanny and motor noise is again a wash. The Vic is a little quicker but the HD has less vibes. Ergo's on both bikes is good but both need mods to make them right for me and my passenger and THIS is where the HD comes out on top the first time. For me the bike was fine but the handlebars are more drag bar bend than touring. I have a bad throttle wrist from chipping the bone many years ago. I have no problems from the wrist on the HD bu was already getting tendon pain after around 20 miles on the Vic. The biggest issue was passenger board height. My wifes knees were too high which rocked her back on her tailbone causing pressure here and on her hips. Now we had to install adjustible floorboard arms on the HD for her as well to correct this problem, BUT tis i where the HDgets the nod again, they make the parts to do this. I'd have to remove the pipes and board supports, take them to a shop to have 1.5" cut out and have them welded back together to address this issue. This isn't huge but given the number of folks to bring this issue up, Victory should really address this.
Now the BIGGEST reason I decided to walk instead of buy is the bike was already broken. It had 117 miles on the odo when I pulled out of the dealership, dropped to 110 miles at some point during the ride and froze at 110 until I downshifted entering the dealer parkinglot and it dropped to 104 miles. Now maybe I'm the Victory jynx given all the issues I had with the Vision, but I just couldn't bring myself to drop any cash given my past victory experience and this new bike acting up before any ink was applied to the paperwork.
I'm sure I'll be back on a Victory at some point, but it won't be this summer.
For the record the HD has its shortcomings as well. The heavy fairing wants to flop a bit when diving into a corner as it is much heavier than the CC's fairing. The stock seat just flat out sucks and the rear suspension doesn't soak up road defects anywhere near as well as the Vision or CC. In fact the HD suspension is jarring where the Vic suspension just sucks up the bump. The HD also lacks the Vics power when towing, as learned on my Vision.
Like I said they both do some things very well and others not so well. So in this instance maintaining the status quo seems the right decision for now. Maybe the 2012's will have adressed enough to make it a go, time will tell. Anyhow hope this gives you something to ponder and addresses the differences.

ps... sorry for typo's and dropped letters. I'm having an issue with my computer I can't seem to resolve.

Well, I'm convinced now, Teach! I had always thought you wuz a spy from 'the Other Side' - you had so MUCH shit happen that the rest of us didn't - but you sounded SO sincere. I almost believed that you were a walking Jinx - and everything that could happen to me - didn't - because YOU caught it first.
I ALMOST believed that.
But this post has convinced me that my first impressions were right. Good luck with your choices. I made the RIGHT one.

donetracey, hey bud glad you are still around. No buddy I'm no spy for the OTHER side and I'll gladly give anyone the phone number to my dealers service department to confirm everything I've said in the past with regards to my Vision and with yesterdays test-ride. As you'll recall... even with all the Vision issues I experienced, I loved the bike. Still got nothing but good to say about Victory. With that said I think the still have a few bugs, mostly electrical related that need improved upon before I jump on another. Shame because I really like the CC and had a GREAT deal worked out. Mabe I am just a jinx, lol.....

Teach, I might head to Roar on the Shore on Saturday the 16th. If you are going to be there, I'd love to see your new ride.

Teach - in 3+ years, I have had ONE of the problems you described in such wonderful detail. Radio control - replaced early on.
My Dealer's Service Mgr is aware of your claims - and is astounded. As are several other VV Owners that I have discussed your problems with.
I will be kind to you, and think of you as "A Jinxed Man" - and feel sorry for your curse.
In 50 years of ownership of bikes and cars - many 'new' - I have not had as much/many problems as you claim to have had with ONE vehicle. That is a True Curse and I wish it to somehow be undone. Good luck !

And don't blame VICTORY !!!!

ScoreBo, if you make it look me up. I'll be helping out along with the other Lake Erie Freedom chapter members with Demo rides. One of the advantages of being a founding member is I get to play...lol

Donetracey, Bud I don't blame Victory for the issues I had on my Vision. If I did I sure wouldn't still be looking at Victory's. I am a motorcycle enthusiast and have owned MANY different brands of bike in my 40+ years of riding. Some of them had a few issues, BUT I never had a bad bike. Further you will never hear me say anything bad about Victory. All the issues my Vision had aside, I have sold more Victory motorcycles for my dealer than his own sales personel. I love the companies designs, the motors and the overall package Vic puts together.
What I think happens some times is folks take talking points on a website and try to attribute some emotion to them, aka this person likes or dislikes. So for whatever reason I was very unfortunate with petty issues on my Vision. I had anticipated a few with it being a 1st year bike which means when they happened I wasn't surprized or disappointed, it just was. At the end of the day my Vision ALWAYS brought me home from wherever I had wandered.
As for the decision not to pick up the CC? Simply a matter of waiting to see if the motor company addresses some of the easier to handle ergo issues. I'm sure the electronic issue with the odo was a fluke, but maybe a sign for me to wait another year, BUT the main issue was passenger comfort as previously stated. My wife rides along with me a LOT. Hell when we go out for coffee we log 150 miles, so comfort is a top priority.
Finally, I'm glad your Vision is treating you well. All the guys in our Freedom Chapter still rib me over the issues I had on mine. I'd say most of them have had no more than one or two isolated problems, some have had none at all. All that does is reinforce that I had a little bad luck and Victory makes a great machine. Oh and my Mechanic couldn't believe all my bad luck with my Vision either, just a fluke. So relax my friend nobody is dissin Victory... I was actually looking at a 2011 silver and black Vision as well. Very nice looking ride.
