Hey guys, i have the Victory oil temp dipstick. I removed it from my 2008 vision and installed it on my New 2011 vision. I noticed on the 2011 model the dipstick reads about 35-50F warmer than it did on the 2008 model. Im Not worried about this, i was just curious if anyone else ever noticed something like this??

That will be interesting to find out. I wonder if the heat transfer of the new transmission is different.

okay Chris, you've got a new 2011 Vision, where's the pictures. I know you don't really care about 35 - 50f degrees, sheeeesh....

Congrats by the way.

I won't do the same test until I get my 2015 or so.

Get your self a cooking thermometer. Boil some water and then stick them both in and find out the Vic one is not telling you the truth.

I knew that from the get go, I find this attractive addition as a point of amusement the day I installed it. At best it is a point of reference which I've seen it top 300 degrees and it keep on running. What the real tempature was, I just don't know.

I bet it has something to do with the transmission, plus dont the 2011's have a stage one engine or something like that ?

I think your new Vision needs about 1500 miles on it before the compare (assuming is doesn't). I know my Vision was hotter the first few Months of ownership. Everything needed to grind itself into its final harmony.

An "EPA" lean stock engine will run hotter than one that has a fuel controller on it. My guess is that you had a Ness or Lloydz dobeck fuel controller on your previous bike and don't yet have one on your new one.

Running an engine hotter is one way the factories can meet some of the emissions B.S. being mandated by your EPA buddies in Foggy Bottom. Anyone who owned a '73/'73 Chevy or GMC pickup with the 454 will recall they always ran hotter than the small block trucks, that's again how the factory 'showed' the Feds they were 'trying everything' to lower emissions.
