2011 Vision. Our floor boards have 3 location holes for adjustment.
I moved the right side, foot brake, to the front hole, moving the floorboard as far as you can adjust it toward the front tire.

Now then, the left side, clutch pedal, has a "tip" in the owners manual, page 35
Tip:An accessory linkage rod is needed to fully adjust the gear shift pedal control.

So I go to my selling dealer, they order me the rod, or so I thought. It's a KIT-LINKAGE, BILLET, CHR, LONG.....a very nice square billet rod MUCH larger than the factory one. Definitely not a part I can use.

Question is, those of you that have moved the clutch side floorboard to the front position for your longer legs, do you remember having to do anything besides pulling the 6mm mounting bolt and moving the floorboard forward, just like the brake side?

Is there an "accessory linkage rod" I'm going to need?

Thanks

Moved mine, 2010, all the way forward the first day home. Didn't have any problem with the shift linkage. I do believe you have to adjust the linkage once you move the floorboad forward but I know I didn't have to buy anything to make the move. What they may be saying is that in the forward position you don't have the full Range of adjustment that you would have in the rearward positions.

Hadn't ridden anything for 20 years. Raised kids.
Never a Kaw. Had some Hondas in the 80's

Thanks for the replies. I'll just move it forward and since I installed a heel shifter, the clearance might not be an issue. Thought it was interesting the riders manual had that note about an accessory linkage needed.

I just went through this process yesterday when I picked up my 2011 VV. I had a 2009 VV and had previously adjusted the boards to the forward position.

On the 2009, this was a piece of cake...move the floorboards to the forward slot, and then adjust the shifter linkage until you get the right height on the shifter.

However, on the 2011 the barrel nut (or whatever the thingy is called that the shifter linkage screws into) is now shorter than the one on my 2009. The end result is that when you move the boards forward, there is not enough adjustment on the stock linkage to get the transmission to engage.

Side note: for the life of me I can't understand why you would design an adjustable floorboard and provide a stock linkage that doesn't allow for the proper adjustment. I guess that's just another of the 2011 improvements.

Anyway, to resolve the issue, we took the linkage off my 2009 trade-in and swapped it over to the 2011. I know this probably doesn't help you, but the only difference we saw yesterday when dealing with this was that the barrel nut thingy back by the transmission was about an inch to an inch and a half shorter than the one on my 2009.

I would also imagine that you could get some of the "designer linkages" offered by the venders on here that would also work.

I have short legs and moved mine all the way back at first. After a few months I moved them to the middle position.

Thanks for the replies. I was lost on this one, so was my dealer.

Sarvbill, you nailed it. Like you said, I'm finding out now that a linkage kit off a 2010 and older will do what we want. My Victory parts help was on the phone with Victory for a LONG time trying to figure this one out. They had some employee out on the showroom floor in Iowa with a tape measure on a 2010, lol. 2011 factory linkage is 7 1/2 inches, 2 short of what we need for our bikes. I guess the threaded rod might not have changed but the heim joint lengths did. Still not sure yet whether they can get me one or not.
So just FYI, anyone wanting their clutch pedal controls all the way forward on the 2011 Vision won't be able to without some modding or a $80 linkage kit off a 2010 or older Vision, if they can get one. Like you said, might be a nice shiny billet job in my future!! Thanks
