In the 6 years, 80,000 miles so far I have never taken a long trip. Just over 10K since Feb on my current Vision. The most in 1 day was 700 miles to Deal's Gap, about 1800 in four days. Leaving tomorrow with a group of 4 from Orlando. We are meeting a group in NC than up to Pittsburg to meet with the St. Louis and Chicago Chapters. From there it's off to the Flight 93 crash site and on to Ground Zero on 9/10.

After that the groups heads up to RI for the Fire & Iron State Rally. I will have to catch up with them there. I will be riding back solo at the end of the month. I do not want to ride I95 all the way back to the Tampa area from my folks home in NJ. Anybody have a good route. I plan on heading west in PA and ride back on the BRP. Route suggestions greatly appreciated.

New front tire, plugs and oil change. Now to squeeze a months worth of stuff on the bike.

honk and wave as you come through VA. Wish I was riding with you. I might go up to PA on the 11th as I was going to do an Iron Butt that was later cancelled. I'm sure there is others, but didn't look them up. Ride safe and give us a good report.

I haven't rode it myself but I have heard good things about US route 17. You could take that from Virginia all the way down.

Thanks will do. Getting off to a rocky start. The SENA mount let loose on my helmet. No big deal, just an inconvenience to get double stick tape and re-do. Than I find a small nail in rear tire. Not leaking YET, not sure if I should pull it and see what happens. Almost dead center. New tire is not an option right now.

easy to plug the tire and roll. others may discourage it, but you don't want to roll with that nail in there either. I've done 5,000 miles or more on a plug as well as others with no ill affects.

I have no problem riding on a plug. I just put that tire on. I plugged the one before it till I got to the shop and it leaked, even with contact cement, ect. I'm glad there are only a few more new houses being built in my development. I hate flats.

Fingers crossed. Pulled the nail out. It was about an inch long and bent at in the middle. Also in at an angle. Sprayed soap and no bubbles. 45 psi in tire. I hope it still has that in the AM.

Just a thought here but when they plug the tires on ATVs they heat the plug area with a heat gun to set the cement, perhaps this would work/help in your situation? The shop mech told me ATV tires never get warm enough to set the cement and this fixes that problem.

I wouldn't go for a 4k without a "Stop&Go" tire repair kit. works great with tire on the bike and no cement needed. Good Luck! It's always said that it's about the ride but in case of 9/11 it's about the destination. thanks to all the first responders!!!
