What did you expect!! Stripped my '08 baby out of her tired old SSGrey clothes to get 'er ready for a fabulous new 2012 makeover!! 31 pieces are off to chrome and paint ( I must be getting old - I remember when a motorcycle was a gas tank and two fenders! ). The bike looks all scrawny now - kinda like the cat after a bath!! I removed the inner bags after taking these pics and she looked even skinnier, but I still think she's sexy!!

I gotta say, the stripped down chassis really got the mental juices flowing (I work in a fab shop - quick, hide the torches!!), but this trip is just for personalization - not customization. I know what I've got planned (I think); What would you do to the Vision to make it truly yours?

That's it for now, as I'm off to wet sand all the orange peel off the OEM clear.

Definitely shows the complexity of these modern motorcycles. wire up the front turn signals, slap on a seat and she'd be ready to run. The Vision Core!

Wow! definitely echo Jedi's comments above. Also, even with all the body panels removed; still looks like a B*tch to get behind the headlight assembly and change those bulbs out....

Addendum to my post above; If I've ever going to strip my bike down that far... I'd prime and paint those gas tanks black.

I'd ride it to the local H-D dealership and let the stuck in the 50's crowd see it's inner workings, might change a few minds.

A vision is a think of beauty dressed or naked.

You have it so far a part and work in a fab shop you should look into lengthen the bottom of the back of the front fender. Then you wouldn't get that road crap on the front of the bike.

Can you just imagine - running down the road on a Vision that had clear plastic body panels????

Think you get a lot of attention now - that would be AWESOME!

Wow I was thinking about getting a custom paint job but I would have to strip my bike down like you can you tell me if it was difficult to do . It scars the hell out of to think that after I take her apart I wouldn?t be able to put her back together again.

Your profile doesn't say where you live but if your close I'll help.
Like the man said take plenty of photos and get a lot of baggies. Mark them so you know where the bolts came from. One for each section. Right side front panel is one bag left side another bag and so one.
You'll be surprised how much you can remember and how close other riders might be for help.

Hey Crash Bar - Just my opinion, but I thought the Vision was pretty easy to take apart. Believe it or not. the whole thing pretty much disassembles with four tools - 4mm and 6mm allen wrenches and 10mm and 13mm sockets. I wholly agree with the advice to bag and label the fasteners from each component; take it one step further and note a "sequence" number as you go - that way after paint you can work backwards to number 1 and you'll be done!! Make sure you have plenty of room to work and to safely store the parts you remove - there's a bunch of 'em! Good luck with your project - I'd be happy to offer any further help or advice if needed.
