Anderson, IN (48mi NE of downtown Indianapolis) | Though some of the traffic negotiation in the film may not be acceptable in the US, I feel similar results would still be experienced. Mainly when it comes to parking.

Kerrville Texas ( now a homeowner on six acres) | I guess lane spliting is ok but, what happens when someone suddenly opens the car door to pull the tail of thier coat out of the door jamb??????
It only takes one time . Whose "fault" will it be?? Whoever is at fault, the mc rider is still HURT!!!
I will stick to the traffic on my Bike.

New York State | Visions are a tad wide for lane spliting and even if the bike was leaner I would avoid it one open door would make for a very bad day |

Green Bay, WI United States | Used to watch the "CHIPS" do this lane splitting thing when I was a kid in California back in the 60's and 70's. Thought it was "bitchin" at the time but would never do it now.

I work with a guy from over there who rode most of his life. He says splitting traffic is very common where he grew up and expected from drivers. He said cars will often move over for a "motorbike". Wouldn't that be nice? |

Was driving home from a Hill climb event it was mid summer high 80's and traffic was backed up, myself my pillion and another bike were on the shoulder after being directed to use it at no more than 25 mph by a LEO, a red pick up was angered and blocked our path but waited until we were real close before making his move I was second in line so I used the open space to his rear to go around him and then parked a few car lengths ahead and walked back to assist my fellow rider. This guy was shouting and very upset I tried to explain we had been directed to use the lane but he did not want to hear it. |

Nor Cali | Been lane splitting for years...no one's ever opened a car door on my. Once I was splitting lanes, went by a CHP in the number 2 lane, bout two cars ahead a woman hogged over the painted traffic lane separator...she had a problem and was not gonna let me pass. The CHP I had just passed pulled her over and ticked her. Some days gotta love the CHP.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA | I don't lane split often, and have had a truck give me the squeeze once (put a lot of his paint on my paintguards). I do find that a motorcycle has the advantage when traffic is moving slow with the ability to fit in the room behind and in front of cars, giving more opprotunity for lane changes and a much quicker commute (without splitting lanes).
My commute is 25 miles, 30 min by bike, or 50 min by car. |

Henlow, Bedfordshire, England | Aha, lane splitting is a way of life here and I use those same roads into London 2 or 3 times a week. What you find is because it is so common nearly all cars and i would say all trucks make way for bikes. Before my Vision I had a R1200RT which wasn't easy top filter (lane split) but since getting my V it has been a lot easier for 2 reasons I think - 1. you don't miss it in your mirrors specially with the clearwater lights and 2. the front is wider than the back giving me more confidence that I have enough room. The V is a lot better for filtering than you think.
As for danger, yes there are plenty. I won't filter at any real kind of speed just slow moving traffic and although it is allowed if you have a scrape you are going to be at least 50% to blame. The London traffic isn't too bad for filtering but in mainland Europe they really are much more aware and bikes are kings with all vehicles making room when the occasion arises.
p.s. it saves a lot of money as well, London has a ?10 daily charge for cars, bikes are free. Parking in London is a minimum of ?5 per hour bikes are a maximum of ?1 per day

The people down there are freakin' whacked. Must be something they put in the water down there...weird.

SF Bay Area | I have been splitting in NorCal for over 40 years, on everything from crotch rockets, 'wings, and everything between. My Vision is like the others, just a tad wider. I split with a bunch of guys with GS1200's (big square metal bags), and my Vision is narrower at the back. Keep the shear under 15mph, keep alert, have reasonable loud pipes, split in the daytime with your high beam on, and all is well. My only rules... never in the rain, never with a passenger, and never next to a truck with a Skoal sticker in the rear window. |

| HI ALL I live in the uk [nottinghamshire] . we call lane splitting filtering and yes a lot of vehicles move over  but some move over to stop us getting passed [the other way ].  .I Ride a 2010 white vision now even more vehicles more over. I think I am the traffic police.  [I Wear a white helmet , black jacket , boots , and trousers. |

| I'm in SoCal as well and lane splitting is an essential way to get around here. On my GS I do it all the time but on the Vision I don't feel confident enough that I can stop or maneuver quickly enough if somebody decides to make a lane change when I'm next to them which has happened many times. As a result I spend a lot of time inhaling exhaust fumes while stopped in traffic on the Vision. Its surprising how many people move over when they see you coming. Years ago nobody gave a bike a break and sometimes would try to block you but nowadays most everybody is courteous to lane splitters... even in LA :-) One funny experience was when a buddy and I were traveling through Seattle during rush hour and started to lane split as usual. People were beeping their horns and yelling at us. It wasn't till I got home that I realized its totally illegal to lane split in Washington State. Turns out that's what they were trying to tell us!

When I work on out of town projects I'll put a bike in the back and commute home & back on weekends in the summer-that I like. |
