Prepped and ready to cut. I'm cutting 2 inches off my standard height windshield.

The 8-Ball windshield is great when it's hot but a little to low when it's cold or raining. The standard height windshield is too high when it's hot.

I could buy a 2 inch lower windshild but I prefer the look of the 8-Ball windshield. I used the 8-Ball windshield for a pattern.

If all goes well this should look like a taller 8-Ball windshield.

I want to do the same with mine. Please give details on the tools you used to make the cut and finish/polish the edges. It looks like a good project. Good luck!

Done! The stock 8-Ball windshield was 11.5 inches tall this is now 13.5, perfect for me.

I will post the details later. I'm going for a ride.

It's easy to do. I cut down every windshield I ever owned, starting in '77 (before that, I was too stupid to own one). I'm a short-shit (5'8" and all stock windshields were too high (you NEVER or rarely - want to look THROUGH one - but OVER).
Thankfully, the stock Vision is adjustable, so no cutting was necessary on my factory short-shield - just another Vision + .

Nice work!-how did you do it? Using what tools and how to keep the windshield from flexing while cutting it etc. How did you finish the edges?

I've got the tall windshield and the stock windshield. I've always wanted a shorter windshield or blade so I would interested in how you did this. Nice job.

I used a jigsaw with a 12 TPI wood blade.

After cutting I used a power "duel action" sander. I started with 50 grit emery cloth to remove any waves. Then I switched to 150 and then 220.

To finish I used 400 grit in a hand block sander. After sanding I wiped the edge with acetone. The rag should be wet BUT don't let any acetone drip on the windshield.

I do not tape or cover the windshield. I put the soft side of Velcro on the Jigsaw and just follow the line drawn on the windshield.

Thanks everyone!

Took the bike for a ride and for me it is perfect and it still has the 8-Ball look.

Nice I have been cutting windshields for every and you did it the way I have always done them.
The finer the sand paper on the top edge gets the great finish that we look for.
I have read where company's use cork to polish the the top edge. I have never remember to buy some.
Like my Dad and I'm sure yours always said measure twice and cut once
