Just got a 2012 Vision and would like to have the mirrors on the fairing removed and speakers put into those places. I am unable to find where I can find new speaker covers, one for each side, that will cover both the existing speaker and also the new speaker?

Have never seen a manufactured cover that fits over BOTH the mirror area and the stock speaker area. That would be a custom job. I've seen where the mirrors have been replaced with additional speakers (still keeping the stock speaker placement as well). In that instance, they had to custom make the mounting surface for the extra speakers, then just used the grilles that came with the speakers to finish off the look. Quite the "Wall of Sound"!

Search through the forums and you should find a thread on it with photos. I believe it was over a year ago.

Appreciate the info. Have seen this only once myself when I had the 2008 but didn't think about asking the guy at that time. Thanx again.

What is the advantage, if any, to replacing the mirrors with speakers?? Why not just upgrade the stock speakers and leave mirrors alone...I know each individual has their own reasons and it is their business, but I thought one bought a bike to ride and enjoy the sounds of wind and nature and such....If you need loud music why not just by a car with 200amp power and blast away......

What is the advantage?

It's because....

***THE STOCK MIRRORS SUCK***

...and you can install better aftermarket mirrors on the clutch perch and brake reservoir housings..

The stock mirrors do not "suck" if adjusted correctly they work just fine.....Some have said they do not like them,,but I would be willing to bet big bucks that most on this site have NO issues with the mirrors....I am aware that a few riders don't like them, but nothing is perfect...I have only seen 1 other Vision with aftermarket mirrors and IMHO it looked silly and not for me...Too each his own...BTW I thought this thread was about moving or adding speakers/covers, not mirrors......

The stock mirrors do suck Opas. You cannot see directly behind you with them. Define how you have adjusted them to see directly behind you.....

...you can't because they wont. The convex nature of them; together with the way that they are positioned allow for you to view only your hand grips and fingers at the innermost viewing portion of the mirror(s); completely cancelling even a portion of the slight rear view afforded to you.

Unless your a gomer whom is leaning to the left or right while trying to see what's directly behind you with the stock mirrors (and you still can't adequately see behind you) the stock mirrors absolutely are the worst that I've had the privilege to use. Handlebar mounted mirrors allow enhanced rear views. That's why people are choosing them on the Vision.

I'll state again. The ADVANTAGE to replacing the stock mirrors with speakers is because THE STOCK MIRRORS SUCK.

I don't have any problems with the stock mirrors. I see just fine.

willtill...I respect your opinion as I hope you do mine...But I have absolutely no issues with the mirrors on my Vision...Been riding for over 55 years and have seen all kinds of different mirrors...Could they be a little better, perhaps to some, but for me and many, many others on this site, they work just fine. Hell, I have worse blind spots on my new Ford Edge than on my Vision..I ususally turn my head to look towards rear most times anyhow, maybe I should not, but it has worked for many years...Ride safe...

To each thier own but to me the mirrors on the vision are as good as they need to be. I see behind with no problem and I always turn to look before passing or changing lanes as that is what I was taught in the safty course.

Don just posted the perfect example of how the stock mirrors limit your rear view. The mirrors are too far forward.

And of course one does a head check; along with using mirrors. That's a given. It's pure common sense; if one just learned that from a safety course, common sense may have been lacking in those case(s). But then again, common sense has always been a uncommon virtual.

How bad the stock mirrors are really depends on where you sit and your body type.

There are people that have a very hard time using the mirrors and others like myself have no issue.

It really depends on the how tall the torso of the rider is. The measurement up from the seat to a riders eyes make all the difference in the usability of the mirrors.

The bottom line is that every rider should work this out for themselves.
