Out for a ride today, listening to ipod when suddenly the radio, blinkers, display indicating gear, temp, clock, cruise control, and gas gauge just died. Also, speedometer and tach are stuck at 67mph and 2.5 on tach.
I hope a fuse blew. what do you think and where is fuse box?

2 fuse boxes ,, I found it best to raise up the windshield fully ( hope that still works ) take off the front cover just below the windshield and you will see one on each side of this area. There is also 2 small cover you will need to remove to get at them.
I won't think it would be a fuse unless it was a few of them.

Good luck and let us know what you find.

Windshield stuck in down position. Either blew a few fuses or major electrical problem. Ipod was just starting new song and everything just went out. Bike still runs great. Headlight and taillight are on but no blinkers, gauges, cruise control ect.

I was just in my fuse box area over the weekend, my windshield stuck in the up right position. Off to the dealer later today to get it looked at. Anyway, if you do a search on youtube for vision fuse box you will find a video that shows how to get the front panel off of the fairing and how to get the little cover off over the fuse box area. I found this to be very helpful. My fuse for the windshield was ok so that is why I am off to the dealer.

How did you charge the bike? High amp charger (5amps or more), or digital trickle charger/tender (2amps or less)? Have you used a car/truck to jump start the bike recently?

If you did any of these there is a good chance you blew your rectifier, and you are running on battery power. The bright side is that it is a simple fix, but it will set you back about $150.

I also recommend you DO NOT take it out again until this is resolved, or you may end up paying for a tow. Trust me it sucks when this happens, and you find yourself broke down in the Hampton Roads Bridge tunnel.

Have you tried completely disconnecting the battery? Maybe the computer needs a complete power off. I had other issues in the past and that cured it.

I use trickle charger, never had to jump start the bike. This week is supposed to be in 60's, a great week to ride. Not taking it out for fear of breakdown or with no brake lights or blinkers someone running into me.
I will try to disconect and reconnect the battery today. Called dealer they mentioned fuse or relay. They said take fuses out and check for burnout. Even if it is fuse something caused failure. Can't get apt. till next Friday the 24th march. BUMMER! I JUST WANNA RIDE!

I had the same issue on my 2010 Vision, it turned out to be that main breaker was sending low voltage. They replaced the 40A breaker circuit and no issues since. The part number they replaced was 2410332. Hope this helps.

Thanks Fish117, I'll check that out. Did you lose the same sources: blinkers, brake lights, windshield, radio, all console readings ie (clock, temp, mileage ect.) hazards, cruize control.

Yep! I would be going down the highway and everything would shut down, my bike actually stopped and I had to restart while moving. It would start right up but sometimes the none of the gauges would work until I restarted again...other times my guages would stop and the bike would run. It was hit or miss. Hopefully you get to the root of your problem.

Brought to the dealer, he changed out the 5amp gauge fuse on right side and everything came back on. Just about made the 40 minute ride back home when poof everything out again. Called dealer back, he said usually when there is a short, it happens right away. Not sure what is causing it. Any thoughts?

The main 40 amp breaker. There was a recall or service bulletin on the '08s. They got some bad ones from their supplier.

Also a recall/update on the ignition switch if that hasn't been done on your bike. The switch could lose internal contact intermittently.

Similar issue on my '08 Gray Ghost, after several weeks in the modifications department of my garage, (while I procured a right side chrome fairing), I rode to work, a small <10 mile ride, the bike completely died. So I looked up the info, and looked at the battery connections and made sure they were clean and tight. A week or so I did a ride with some new friends, and it died in >95 degree traffic. Both times, after a short wait, turn the key, and voila', everything is returned to normal. The issue tends to be that something heats up, opens the main electrical circuit, and then, once cooled (few minutes), it recloses, and everything works again.

So, back to the vision sites, and more digging, and I want everyone to know, (cause I was confused), that this circuit breaker is under the black cover behind the battery, but in front of the engine. Remove the black cover, 2 allen screws, and the circuit breaker is housed in a red plastic body.

I would recommend disconnecting the battery, then if needed, take a photo of the wiring, and remove everything, clean with a wire brush, then some strong (90%) RUBBING alcohol (don't waste the drinking kind), then reconnect everything, and make sure it is snug, don't overdo it, you will snap off these little studs.

Would also recommend adding these tools to your tool kit.

Also, if your '08 gas door still functions as designed, you may want to carry the tools to remove the instrument bezel (pop sickle stick), and the center console. Lesson learned, not looking for something a bit better than stacking velcro.

Since the electrical troubleshooting, the voltage is always around 14.5 volts, and all works well. I have my fingers crossed that I'm out of the woods on this one, but, I never say never. I've made a few two hour long, constant riding rides, one with air temps close to 110 degrees, with no shutdowns.

I also need to purchase an additional circuit breaker.

Just cause a circuit breaker looks good or test good doesn't mean its good. A new one that you can get at a auto store or even a Harley shop is better. There so small care a spare doesn't hurt.
gottavision some place here is a list of all the recalls and you dealer can tell you over the phone if they have been done.
