Well after riding 3000 miles without the trunk I decided since it's time to get ready for touring season I would put the trunk back on and hit the highway to see how the wind was going to effect the handling.

This is what I found... It took me about 5 min to get used to the extra wt then it was like the bike handled better at hightway speeds with better wind control, smoother ride on rough roads and even got 5miles better fuel miledge. I will never take it off again.

The temps were in the low 90's here today with winds 10-15mph and gusts up to 30. All in all a beautiful day to ride.

I put it back on this weekend as I have several rides scheduled with my lady friend and I wanted to make sure she stays were she is suppost to be. She loves my Vision from the first time she rode with me on a 500 mile ride the first weekend after buying Pearl. The next thing want to get is a hitch put on so I will be able to pull a trailer and carry a tent and gear for the long rides I have in my future like making sturgis this yer and the victory ride.

I'll go BUY a trunk if it'll get the temps into the 90's!

agree, it seems like there is a better 'handling' with the trunk on. I put it on only when the Queen or Princess wants to go on a ride

cheers!

I've found that it's really hard to go grocery shopping without it.

Actually, in my case, I find the rack and factory backrest (which I understand has been inexplicably discontinued) serve to provide plenty of carrying capacity. More, even, since I'm not limited by what might fit in a trunk, but only by my admittedly deficient common sense about what I'm willing to bungee on back there. Haven't brought home any major appliances yet, but you never know...

I took mine off and think the bike handles better especially in the stronger wind. I like the look alot better without it and the other half doesn't ride so that isn't a problem. May even sell it; I don't know.

I put mine back on, and installed polk audio speakers to match the front, funny how my bike radio sounds better than some cars, due to the arc amp.

I'll never put my tourpack back on again. So many things do not fit inside of it. Still looking for solo seat with mini pick-up bed behind.

When I first got it I left the trunk on and liked the way it handled and then found a backrest at a reasonable price and tried it that way too. Both are great but I missed the extra storage space to lock away my helmet and jacket so the trunk is back on. Heck, its only a 20 minute job to take it off or put it on so it's no big deal either way. Now that I've spent the money to put a luggage rack on from CycleOps the trunk will probaly be on more than off.

Around here, the weight of the water filling those speakers would be more than the trunk!

I like the trunk. I took mine off briefly and well, I prefer the bike with the trunk. Now that my amp lives in my trunk its not going anywhere anytime soon.

speakers will not hold water. center of speaker not attached to anything. I'm not saying I will never put
the trunk on again but I plan on going trunkless this summer.
