Hi all, I am really thinking about getting a camping trailer, the one I would like is the time out slipstream, its 44in wide, 110in long including toung, 37in tall towing, comes in at 260 ish lbs with camper package. My question is, is pulling a trailer this size worth the rewards? I tryed tent camping with every thing loaded on the vision, things I wanted, small ice chest, chair, coffee maker lol, some kind of shade while hanging out, soft padding to sleep on. I know just get a hotel, but I like saving money in the long run, and some hotels are just shady.

On my quest to find the perfect solution, I found the time out slipstream, perfect for one person and a few extera things. I looked at the small bushtec cargo trailer $1495.00 aint bad, a open cargo in ebay, nice set up 895.00 and looks like it would be good, and regular enclosed cargo trailers. If I went with one of the trailers other than the slipstream, I would have to set up a tent when I stop, and get a good sleeping pad. I am not worried about stuff getting wet, but just dont want to strap all kinds of stuff to the vision.

So for the vision riders who like to camp, or pull a trailer what are some good and bad points on the different set ups? example pulling a trailer the size of the slipstream is a pain, the trailer wanders, cant do 75-80 mph, better off just pulling a regular trailer and setting up a tent, or pulling a trailer that size does not make that mutch of a difference. I am going with the hitch doc hitch and a ball that will swivel left to right (I think that would work best in the curves)

sorry for the long post, just looking for info.

I have much camping experience while riding and I would say if you can afford it, or perhaps find a used on, get a Bunkhouse Camper. I towed one for many thousands of miles behind my Goldwings (both a GL1500 and a GL1800) and you can't beat sleeping up off the ground. The Slipstream is a neat concept but you won't be comfortable getting dressed in that, especially if the weather is bad. If you cannot fin a used Bunkhouse camper within your budget I would highly recommend getting a cargo trailer (the alumimax trailer you have pictured is an excellent trailer for the money) and then using a good sized tent where you could put either a quality cot or air mattress or a combination of both (you can make a very comfortable queen sized bed with two cots latched together with an air mattress on top). Good luck and post pictures of whatever you decide to do!

I went with the biggest Timeout camper. I know it is heavy, but with the screenroom up and the queensized bed w/memoryfoam, it is like sleeping at home and keep in the shade of the screenroom. I am able to pull the trwiler and enuff gear for a three day weekend in the mountain, and the Vision pulls it like it isn;t there cept for a little longer stopping distance. I also have a good sized cargo trailer painted to match the bike

I pull a Kwik Kamp, its a 1996. I paid $1200 for it.....queen sized bed and you can get to the storage area from inside with it setup.....or outside with it packed up. Has a front storage area to, which holds a cooler. From getting off the bike to standing inside the camper takes a single person no more than 3 minutes.....2 minutes if you really hustle. Weighs about 280lbs and the Vision has zero problems with it.

Im using a Hitch Doc.  I dont use a swivel hitch....just a regular ball.  I have had no problems with that.  Ive pulled this down the interstate at 90mph several times for long periods, never a problem.  Allow for extra stopping distance.....and LOTS of extra stopping distance in the rain.....other than that, ride it like normal.

I got a kompak kamp, nice little trailer, has a swivel hitch, and 260lbs. I am going to do some paint and powder coat, going all black to match the vision.

I'll be pulling an Aspen Classic for the first time this June, using the HitchDoc hitch. I'll be sure to let you know how it goes.

The Aspen is a heavy trailer, I still have to weigh it to get the exact numbers, but I'm guessing north of 400 lbs. This one I bought on eBay has the swivel hitch and electric brakes! ...so we'll see how she does.
Reports I've read from others suggest it's not too bad to pull; the guy I bought it from never had problems pulling it with his late-90's GoldWing.

I have an Aspen Ambassador trailer and pull it with very little problems. Weighs around 600 pounds when the wife packs. Has electric trailer brakes and the only issue is when riding in parking lots at slow speed then I shut off the brakes. Check my gallery for pictures.

Thats great to know, Taz! You have no idea how much you've put my mind at ease! If your hauling the Ambassador with no (or at least "very little") problems, I should be fine pulling the smaller Classic.

For those that are curious; the Ambassador is the "big daddy" hard-top camper from Aspen with 2 full size beds, the Classic is the mid-line with 1 king size, and they have the Sentry with 1 queen size bed.

Great pics, btw (that goes for the trailer and both of the bikes!)
Thanks again!

Nytvisn "tango" is going in for paint today, I will post pics when done, the trailer has 8 inch wheels, any one know where I can find custom or mag wheels in that size, I might have to upgrade to 12 inch wheels

I pulled a Bunkhouse with the added front room Queen size bed & 15 Cu. ft. of storeage & lawn chair in the pouch on top & cooler on the front, behind my 1985 Goldwing for maybe 20,000 miles with no problems. Think I gave 2K for it in Jan of 06 at a Detroit Winter Show. Went to Deerfield Ill. and picked it up in March. Use a tall Ball so I could lay the bike down and not tilt the trailer. Towed it behind the Vision for the first time in June 2010. being my first V-Twin I didn't know what to expect. So I took it easy, 5th gear @ 65 mph. From Louisville,Ky to Schannecty NY. When I got there it felt like one jug was running on half power. New plugs make it better but didn't fix it. Went back to Ky, drop the trailer and on to Spirit Lake Iowa Plant to AVR. After a tour they Reloaded the code for me, they said it was down level. that fixed it. In october I pulled the trailer to Biketoberfeast (KY to FL) and it did the same thing. I unhocked the o2 sensors and it seems better. (I HATE OXYGEN SENSORS). I do think the the cooler should be a V shape to brake the wind coming off the tail of a Vission. I think the boxy rear end on the wing pulled a little better, more of a wind braker for the trailer.
