I found someone 30 minutes+ away that can install my online
purchased tires if I bring the wheels to him. The "must be too
rich" local mechanic here won't install brought in tires.

I have read the instructions and post about removing the rear tire:

Thank you VisionTex for your picures in the gallery.

My question is, has anyone removed both tires while the Vision is on a
jack or stand? I know the Vision is wobbly on a jack. It is not straight
across like on the Goldwing, or my Kawasaki 2000.

Are there any pictures of a shoeless Vision here? What about any pieces
wedged on the rear arm of a jack to make the Vision steady?

i have removed both of my tires many times.. on all my bikes. even my vn2k and vn800B one time i had my vn800B on the sears motorcycle jack withOut wheels ALL Winter long. btw alot of my dealerships are all doing the same thing.. they will NOT install tires bought from else where, and if you mentioned you got them online, FORGET IT.... i heard they are banding together to prevent internet sales from hurting them. you buy a tire online good luck getting it installed. and if you complain to them about that being shitty you are told it for Legal/insurance reasons. and their insurance wont allow for tires from a outside source to be installed since they dont know the conditions of tires (blem tires etc) ....

...sounds bleak, but you'll find some one. I actually have a dealer within 200 miles that I can ride to and have tires installed for less than I can get them off the net and mount. It'll be worth the ride to have my tires changed, a win-win situation. But I do have a dealer that I can still pull the tires and take to without sniveling that I got the tire off the net. It's a service, not a crime...

My V2K sits steady as a rock on a jack or stand. It is because it has the 2 frame bars,
what do you call it, double cradle or something. The Vision isn't like that. The Goldwing
with its centerstand in the up position offers a perfect straight across line for the rear arm
of a jack to support.

I think they are succeeding.I now say, spend the extra money at the dealership.
This hunting for an installer is a PITA.

I've had both of a few times-I just make sure it's strapped down tight on the lift so there's no issues while I'm wrenchin'. I did find a great use for all those crown royal bags that keep piling up-perfect for hanging your calipers in. If your going to pull the wheels off why not take the next step to freedom & mount the tires too? http://www.nomartirechanger.com/products/2

I have watched everyone of those Mo-Mar videos over the last few days.
If my wallet & storage were fatter, I'd be on it.

It amazes me how you must (obviously it is normal from the videos) man
handle the sidewall-bead part of a tire over the rim. I mean like totally
show it who is boss. Knowing my luck, I'd damage the tire?

You know when you buy a tire off the net you cut the dealer out of 30 or 40 bucks so ya he hates you. Most aftermarket bike shops like you for extra income your giving them.
Be Careful most tire changing machines can't handle the size of our rear pulley so you have to unbolts it. Nuts have to go on a certain way tapered ends out .

I use a Harbor Freight jack and the Vision is solid with either one, or both wheels off.
I don't know if all jacks are the same, but with my HF jack I roll it in from the right side and jack it till it almost contacts the bike.
Then I go around to the left side and line up the front jack crossbar so that it just catches that triangle casting point that hangs down from the engine just about an inch from the end of the bar.
I go back around and pump the jack until the bike starts to stand up off the sidestand and then pivot the jack straight to make sure it catches the same triangle point on the right side of the engine.
Once the right side makes contact I just jack away and let the rear take care of itself.
I never bother to tie it as it is so solid it will never fall off the jack. If the bike goes over it will be jack and all, and a tie won't help.

As for tire mounting, I have never found a non-Victory dealer that wouldn't mount internet tires. They know you aren't going to buy tires there anyway so they are happy to take what they can get. Last set was installed by a Kawi dealer.

$100.00 to install one tire. Holy chit !!! Both should be done for that price.

yeah. It's their way of saying buy the tire here. I take to Victory and get it done for for $115 for both.

The local indy here (within 5 miles) has no problems mounting/dismounting tires purchased elsewhere. $40/each. The Victory dealer (same distance) won't touch a tire that they didn't sell. At least they were honest and said it was because they wanted you to buy the tire from them. The 1500/1600 Vulcans (Classics and Nomads) all had the rear of the engine lower than the frame. Because of that, the only way you can keep the Nomad from getting wobbly is to use pieces of wood or hockey pucks under the rear. That just doesn't seem safe so a guy from Idaho (Bud Smalley) makes the "Idaho Jack Adapter". Four pieces of square tubing welded together with a couple eyelets welded on (that happen to fit perfectly in a couple other eyelets mounted to the frame of all 1500/1600 Vulcans). Pin it on and that rests on the jack. I had mine on the jack stand all winter and it doesn't move. Perhaps someone could engineer something like that for the Vision.
