The black plastic outer fairing piece above the headlight and below the windshield on my 2011 Black/silver Vision fits very poorly at the ends above the mirrors..Left side is worse...Not something I can't live with, it just that I expect better quality control and fit on a $24,000 motorcycle. Maybe I am "nit-picking" as it does not really effect anything, just looks funky...Anyone else notice this on their Visions?????

Plastic.

My 08 had painted metal and I bought chrome, it is metal as well.

My 10 8Ball is the same way.I don't worry about it. I'm happy just knowing that I an out run, out handle, get better gas mileage, and more comfortable than my friends that ride HD's.

Gee wish you would have downloaded a photo but go back to the dealer and if he gives you some BS ask him to order in a new one and see if it will fit better.

Are the 2011's plastic? Mine is metal, and every time I take it off, it bends the corners up a little and looks funky. I have to remember to bend them down a little before I snap it back into place.

Yes, all 2011 are plastic so I'm told...Suppose to increase radio reception somewhat compared to the metal...Both the corners stick up slightly at end of mirrors, left one worse than the right...Dealer tech took it off to tighten mirrors at 500 check, per my request, and carefully put it back on and it still looks a little funky...He basically implied it was not a big deal and live with it....As long as everything works I am okay with that.......

Interesting; my 2011 has the same issue. The ends stick up just a little. At first it bothered me now I don't even think or look at it. I tried to make adjustments at the connectors but it did not work.

on my 2011 is it NOT PLASTIC!!!!! i bent mine down so it doesnt stick above the edge by the mirror.. btw was ANY of the visions EVER plastic there? i know my 08 was NOT plastic as well

also another reason besides bending it that i know mine is Not plastic is , on the edge by the headlight i had to use Black touch up paint on it and under it was clear as day Metal... and my radio reception is actually amazing! the radio reception has Nothing to do with that part being plastic or metal.. it never was about that part.... its about the RADIO.... my 08 had a metal part as do my 11 the difference is the radio unit itself.. Major difference (along with speakers)

Mine stuck up also. And my panel was metal, but was not the original piece. When prepping my new bike at purchase, the GM leaned on the panel and dented it. So they pulled a gloss black metal panel off another Vision and put it on mine. I was tickled as the original panel on the 2011 8 Ball was flat black and I was going to have it painted gloss black. So I got a freebee. I have heard that a lot of 2010's and 2011's have plastic panels. Don't know much more than that.

If mine was plastic I would consider getting a new one in metal since they make em. Mine was easy to bend so the corners were perfect!! When I buy a new Vision part of the deal will be making sure this part is metal. Too many issues with the plastic.

I had almost forgotten about my original post on this issue...My 2011 Silver/Black Vision, manufactured date 2/11, has a plastic panel under the windshield, not metal....I still have the issue of the corners sticking up over the mirror ends but have learned to live with it....I have another issue with the fit of the piece in front of the seat towards the dash panel that fits like crap and looks like poor quality work...Several attempts to align this piece have failed so far...I am going to take it in soon to the dealer and have it checked again... The Tech is a really sharp guy and is going to "shim" the corners and says he can fix it much better than it is now....I will check for sure to see if the metal trim piece for the fairing is for real and if I am better off with one, assuming they will fix it under the warranty.......Otherwise, I really love this bike!!!

I observed that the other Visions on the floor at two dealers were almost the same...Some better fit, some not...My center panel fit fine until I changed the seat to the 8-ball seat which is 1" lower and may have caused the problem. If you look closely at Visions at dealers and pictures on the web, etc. you will notice that most front panels under the windshield do not fit exactly flush...Many I talked to at the AVR do not pay any attention to it and most do not care...I am probably more of a "nit-picker" than others and these little things sometimes bug me when they really should not as life has many more important issues...BTW the dealer tried to make it right and after a few attempts to align the panel, I said "screw it" and moved on......

GO to dealer and order new rubber grommets that might do it.

or even revers the grommets

As for the guy that bends his metal peace try putting some wheel bearing grease in each hole it will make for easer out

Hmmm, my 2011 silver / black Vision's front visor is definitely metal ! Once in a while, the ends will stick up just a little, it is the result of getting bent after being removed and reinstalled if not done carefully. If it gets too annoying, I lift up the side that may be sticking up, and carefully and gently bend it, just a little, and push it back down evenly into the grommets. That usually takes care of it.

I don't believe the plastic pieces have the same issue, as they tend to keep their shape, unlike the metal ones that are malleable.

My 2012 was the same way on both sides. It is metal and was easy to fix just sticking a end under my arm and using my body to bend it on a little. Mine also wasn't fitting down properly as it was on top of the right turn signal; fixed that fitment issue by loosening up a few bolts and pulling the turnover signal assy forward about 1/16".

My 2011 Silver/Black is definetley plastic and sticks up slightly on the left side as well but only slightly. I am the only one who notices it and can live with it but I might try a couple of the fixes I've read here.

I have fixed more than a few of these. They are aluminum NOT!!!! plastic dealer agued with me until I pulled his off and showed him and fixed it for him too!!! Don't argue with me your wrong. Here is how to fix it. Do one side at a time. Lift the one side you want to fix up off of the grommets then with your fingers under on the side edge closest to the windshield and your other fingers on top edge farthest away from the windshield in the corner pointy area twist it pushing up with the fingers under and pushing down with the fingers on top useing the twisting motion. Try not to bend it because it will bend if you do it too hard. Once you tweek it a little pop it back in and if that doesnt do it try it again until it does and it will fix it. I promise. Dain
