Yes they are weighted to reduce vibration, and you might not see a difference on short rides. You might notice it more on longer rides, but it really depends on the rpm/speed you run, you may or may not see any change.

If you do, you could modify the new ends you have.

You could drill out some holes on the grip side and fill the holes with lead (rods, solder, shotgun shot, or bullet reloads) to give the ends more weight. You could also do the old school trick, push a plug into the handle bar, and stuff the handle bar ends with BBs.
