After using the tip-overs too many times and killing myself to get the bike back up...ok...it's not that bad...but still...I finally took out a floor jack stand and placed it below the rear tip over.

WOW! My life was much easier!

I left the bike in first gear and rocked it back and forth to ensure it was stable before working on it. Oh yes, I also put a chock in front and back of the rear wheel. However, the pics do not show this as when I got back from a quick test ride I thought of YOU and decided you may like this idea.

P.S. I saw someone that made one of out of wood...but I thought this was quicker and easier. The other post gave me the idea

That is a great question. Today I wanted to change out the rear heel shifter (chrome) with the rubber shifter that came with my toe only shifter. I removed the toe only rubber piece and then realized I would be on the floor looking up to get to the parts to remove the shifter assembly that is underneath the floorboard. Now this isn't so far down that you can't get to it. But, I didn't want to lay on the floor to get to it. So, I tipped the bike to its side and was able to get a better view and angle on the parts I needed to remove/replace.

I don't think it will be often that I would get down to that side, but it was nice to lean the bike and not have to contort myself to the bike. It was MUCH nicer putting the bike in a position to work on it rather than me.

Elroyj, Look into just making a set of these if you really think it would help.

Hell, I do it every time a wash the bike. Granted, that's only twice a year, but it makes washing the left side and doing the rear tire a lot easier. Hey, what can I say? I'm lazy :P

Uh...your picture didn't show up. But from what I can tell from you post, you said to make something??? Why would I make something when I can just pull my floor stand over to the bike, lean it over and work away?

Do I need to work on my left side? My left side is my good side. Right side. Not so much. That's why I always enter from stage right. Is THAT what you mean?

Forgive me "Member #1". I should have figured that someone "under the rule of Jedi", would know something like this. Apparently, Snagglepuss, wasn't one of my favorites. Guess I'll still have to stick to Howdy Doody. Thanks for the clarification. (and they tell us we don't have lives!!!)

Squeak...
No problem, that's what we're here for! I grew up with that whole era of cartoons.
As to "under the rule of jedi" Jedi is JAM's other alias on the VMC. He's always got his eye on me.
Oh and Howdy Doody was way before my time!

You guys crack me up! Love the banter this forum has!

Snuffalupoguss was on sesame street (Big Bird's mysterious and always invisible to 'others' friend)...I loved that goofy looking hairy brown elephant wannabe. Then of course there were the rest of the cartoons I grew up watching from 6am to 8am every morning and of course 6am till 11 on Saturdays. OH...those WERE the days. Kids these days do NOT know what they are missing. I hate the cartoons these days. Too anime for my taste. Scooby and the Jetsons was were it was at as well as the 'Justice League'. Of course, these days, kids wouldn't know the meaning of the 'Mystery Machine'. Don't forget about Honk Kong Fooey and El Kabong as well as the 'Laff O'lympics'. The of course there were the shows that I grew up watching later like the Electric Company and Zoom.

Man...you guys got my memory going today. Woohoo! ROTF

Sort of hate bringing up a long dead thread (I found it as I was searching for something else) but those shows really DO bring back memories. I lived in a Boston suburb when I was a kid and auditioned for Zoom once. (I didn't make the cut. So much for my acting career.) I thought Zoom and The Electric Company were regional shows on the east coast. Guess not.

Todays cartoons can't hold a candle to the likes of Quick Draw McGraw, Wile E. Coyote/Roadrunner, Tom & Jerry, Huckleberry Hound, Space Ghost and of course The Jetsons (where Mr. Song got his inspiration for the Vision). I think I'll go home and watch a few of these this weekend. /sigh/
