I doubt that I can show you up, but I'll buy you a beer. I have turned around on those roads before. It can be done. But, some are so narrow that you have to start from one edge of the pavement, where there is no shoulder at all and a sharp dropoff, and go to the matching edge on the other side. There is no room for error. If you don't get it right the first time, you're going to be picking your bike up, probably out of the ditch.

After 47 years of riding, I'm finding that my strength, co-ordination, and sense of balance are not what they used to be. Add in a 28 inch inseam and a severe injury that reduces my reach to the ground on my right side by a considerable amount. (The doctors told me I would have to give up riding 30 years ago). Let's just say my confidence level doing tight, unforgiving, no second chance maneuvers has suffered a bit. Reverse would help me out a lot.

Yeah, I know I could trade for a bike with it. I like this one.

Do you like Michelob?

Miller Lite works for me. It's cheap and mighty tasty. The older I get and the more rotund I become, the harder it is for me to ride at slow speeds. Still do-able but not as confidently as I used to be able to. The street I live on is about 1 1/2 lanes wide and I can turn around on it. I couldn't with my Nomad. (Well, maybe I could but it wouldn't have been comfortable so I didn't try.) I see no reason why you'd want to trade for a bike with reverse when it's available for what you have. Not like you have to reinvent the wheel.

You've been riding longer than I've been alive (I'm just 45) so I'll buy the first round.

Sounds like a plan Monkeyman. Do let me know if you get down this way. I'm a semi-retired truck driver and I would be up for a ride and/or a cold beer. I quit the serious drinking a long time ago, but a cold one with a friend is always welcome. Maybe we could get in a ride into the Ozarks. They aren't far from me. I live on the edge of the Kansas/Oklahoma plains, right where they meet the Ozarks, on a river bottom farm. If I go straight west or north from my house, it's plains as far as you can see (and then some). If I go east, or especially south, I'm in the hills. If I ride 1 hour southeast, I'm in some really pretty Ozark Mountain country and it gets better as you go south (or even east). Come on down and we'll take a two hour ride into the hills and get one of the best burgers you'll find anywhere. (Eureka Springs, AR). After lunch there are lots of great Ozark roads to explore.

My rides mostly avoid cities like the plague. I've had enough of the cities in my driving career. Small towns and back roads are more to my liking. (Some of those roads make one wish they had reverse).

The reverse isn't available for my '08, or I would put it on. There are differences in the wiring harness, which I'm pretty sure I could get around, but the '08s do not have the physical mounting bosses cast into the frame to mount the reverse motor. You can't just drill and tap the frame. There is nothing to drill and tap into. The '09s and later have a different sub-frame to accept the reverse kit. I've looked at it long and hard.

Well Ronnie ,have you thought about trading your bike for a 09,or 10 ? That way you could put reverse on and not break the bank, and still have the best of the best ! I thought I had read somewhere that you could add reverse to an 08, but I was drawn toward the black cherry on a new 09 so it only was at the dealers showroom for 2 days before I bought it. I add the intercom /cb set up and 3 weeks later I added the reverse , as I too have some problems and this helps more and more for me. It ain't good gettin old either!!!! Good luck and ride safe!!

Just read the first part of your post. So I think I'd ride the Vision first ,then the CC ,then the Vision again. Try to ride for a couple of hours ,on some twisties before you decide if they will allow it. Then decide, but my 2 cents worth would be the Vision. But good luck on either of them .

"Semi-retired trucker"?? That's big truck humor! I used to drive myself starting with Schneider and ending with my own truck. I quit driving back in '99. All 48 plus Canada and Mexico (once...oops). I'll make it down there in the spring/summer, I'm sure. Small towns are good for me.

I didn't know you couldn't add reverse to an '08. Figured a Vision frame was a Vision frame. How tough would it be to swap sub frames?

I've managed to stay regional, but I've still developed a severe aversion to cities. I'm actually semi-retired, driving 2 or 3 days a week, but yeah, it may turn out to be a joke. Bills to pay and all. I dang sure don't miss squeezing that log book trying to get it all to fit in 70 hours.

I'm afraid the expense of the swapping of the sub-frame would make it impractical, if one can even get a new sub-frame. It would be much easier to just trade bikes, but this one is paid for and I've got it set up how I want it. Since I retired, there is no money for another bike anyway. I'll just have to be careful where I park (and turn around).

If you're coming down in the Spring, you might want to check out VITO in the South Central forum. I've had to miss the most recent few because I had to work, but I was pretty active in the beginning of the event. It's Victory In The Ozarks held in Eureka Springs. It's mostly informal, just a lot of good BSing around the campfire at night and lots of good riding during the day. It has gotten fairly popular.

Hey Ronnie, where's this Eureka burger joint?

Eureka Springs is chock full of good eating places, but one that keeps drawing me back is called the RoadHouse. The food is generally good and the burgers are really good. Sweet potato fries if you want them. Honey sauce on them if you want it. The place is motorcycle themed, but it's popular with the cagers too. In fact, going at the regular mealtimes might make it hard to find a parking place. There is bike parking right next to the building. It's just outside of town on the east side right on 62 on the south side. If you know where the Biker's Rest Motel and Country Mountain Inn are, it's just around the corner, about a mile past the Passion Play road. http://www.theroadhouserestaurant.com/

Ronnie --- I'll have to check out VITO. I have the vacation time but I don't know how much time they'll actually approve. Sounds like it would be a nice 4 or 5 day cruise out there and back anyway.

Ok. We ate at Roadhouse during VITO this year. I did not get a burger though, and whatever I ate wasn't memorable.
I'll have to give the burger a try. Thanks
