Ok, here in VA, we have what we call mountains. I know that most of you who live near the rockies would call these foothills, but the ride is nice. Skyline Drive is in the Shenandoah National Park. Now, it is a NATIONAL park and therefore funded by tax dollars. However, as I discovered, they also also have raised their rates to drive on the scenic road on top. $10/motorcycle!!! What's worse is that I pulled off into a little rest stop, and some guys riding bicycles came in. They charged them $8/bike!!! It's nice, and I understand it helps maintain all that beauty, but that is really steep.

Anyways, here's a few pics for those who have never been there, or are curious what we east coasters consider elevation. Not sure the highest of the range, but these are at around 3,100 feet.

Great pics there DS, I've got a few from back in the 'Wing days. I need to get them updated with the Vision. The good part about the $10.00 deal is that it is good I think, for about 48 to 72 hours or maybe up to 5 days, I don't remember. I stinks for someone just passing through, but for a "local" it's not a bad deal if you can hit it a few times in a week. It really is a great ride and hope to do it in the fall.

Man that sure is a sharp looking Shiny Black Tour, ya'll got. Did that bike just pass ya'll? Looks like you were just standing there and that fast bike with no rider was having a blast and just rolled on past. Dang, now you will always have that unknown face / bike in your picture forever. Who's the hottie, not you, the female homosapien?
They used to have a National Park Pass for an annual fee. Don't know if it still exists.

That would be my better half/co-owner/ball-and-chain. This was actually the first ride we took together that was longer than 1 hour. The Vision has the most comfortable stock seat, but when I ride by myself, which is 80% of the time. I can ride for over 2 hours before I feel like taking a break. When I have a passenger, the rump starts to get sore after about an hour. I think it's because I am sitting still for so long since she's on the back. Even though the seat is the most comfortable stock seat I've ever sat on, it still lacks a little. After an hour I can feel two spots on either side. They feel like the pan or strut support under the seat. I think the foam compresses after awhile. However, I don't have the coin right now to get a new seat. But, kinda curious about that Corbin seat. Wonder what that's like. Maybe next year I can save up enough poker money that I won't have to tell the wife I spent more on the bike!!!

try getting a pair of jeans with no pockets. the seams might be what you are feeling. i think the ultra seat is more comfortable and the girlfriend accessory feels the same but this one ain't bad. we alternate but buffers/gel pads. one leg on aand one leg off so that we don't sit on the same part all day.
was in Va two weeks ago but didn't go up top. made it over to the other side near w. va border. nice views and elevation gains there too.
you guys in the west---don't let the low elevation of the east fool ya'. when i was an avid mountain hiker the guys from the west were mightly impressed with the "kick but" potential of the eastern mountains.

The first trip I took with the wife I had too much air in the rear shock. It was killing her back. After letting some air out the next ride was much better.

Take care,

radioteacher-how much was too much. we ran 60# on the trip to Va. and i thought it might have been too much but together we are 380# (mostly me) plus gear. used to run 20 on the ultra but this system is diffrent.

I run 60# with the same (380#) load, and it seems perfect. I (and my girlfriend) also agree that we prefer the Harley touring seat, but as was said, this one ain't bad. I installed the Utopia backrest, and it feels really great, but I think I will try out the gel pads as well and see if that makes things a bit better. My first somewhat long ride coming up this weekend (up the coast of California), so we will finally get more than 2 or 3 hours on the bike. Will report back next week.

I am running with 37 lbs of air in the shock and have yet to bottom out. With the wife and I plus some extras in the bags we are at 400 lbs of people and stuff. I was thinking of going a few lbs lower.

Consult the white chart on the bike inside the left bag near the air shock valve. It has values you can use for a starting point.

At 37 lbs the ride is almost as smooth as a car except for the short wheel base.

Take care,
