Took a ride yesterday up through NY and then back down through NW PA. Ride statred off in the mid 80's but with some nice cloud cover which kept it nice for riding. About an hour into the ride the sun broke through and was beating down pretty hard, upper 80's. Three hours into the ride the wind began to pick up.
Needless to say after dinner I had NO interest in riding again (odd for me). So this morning I got up, drained and changed the oil, did a little quick shopping and played a bit on the net.
It is now about that time when I normally get the itch to take a quick 150-200 mile putt, but really have no ambition to go. I'm thinking I probably just hit the wall for the week and have just plain tuckered out.

You guys ever get to that point?

ps... As my board name indicates I'm a teacher, as such I have ALL summer off and ride a lot, all over, and then some (hey second career )

i know exactly what you mean. it mostly happens to me when i ride in alot of heat. Not just heat, but heat with straight sunshine. I feel drained and my eyes burn. Actually today im acting that way. My girlfriend asked if "somethings wrong" with me tonight. I said, no i just dont feel like riding. and the look of shock came over her face...

Both of you guys need to call Dr. Phil.

We can't ever get enough riding in.....right?

Actually I know what you mean. Here in San Antonio I can't wait until winter (Ha, Ha) because that's when the riding get's great.

The heat here just wears you out after a while. When I was near Big Bend I spent a day riding along the Mexico border and the bike temp gauge said 107. I believe it!

Stay safe!

spurs, Dr. Phil? Whose that? lol.......

Normally once or twice a summer I hit the wall. All the saddle time just catches up and I need a down day to recoup.... I got there last night. Thats ok tomorrow it's back to my riding becoming transportation and occasional pleasure rides (school starts so it's back to work). I'm figuring with the heated seats/grips and the tall shield I'll be good through December if the nasty snow stays at bay (sorry for the 4 letter word northerners). I'm a little behind my norm for this time of year where I have usually already put 14-15k on the bike. Oh well it works out since I'll be riding later into the fall months

Sick, ooooo, this post gives me the willies. I hope I don't ever come down with that. Even on icy days here in Virginia, I take the steering wheel off of my Jeep and put on the handle bars. When I do those things that I have to do to find my bike, like cut the grass, I lean on the tractor and hug into the tight corners. When the wife wants to go somewhere I'll grab my helmet and she says SHE doesn't want to ride, I say "I'll meet you there." I guess I have a bad case of VD (Vision Dependancy for those who didn't read my previous post). I sure hope you guys get over this before it gets worse. The next stage of this diease is trailering your bike, ikes! Watch out....

Nothing like a good RV toy hauler to trailer your bike. I think CoolHandLuke did that. That's the way i wanna do it. Drive to some location in sheer comfort, unload my precision made work of art (no comments here, we all know them), and then putt around through the backroads and turn right and not left. Come back to RV paradise for the evening and repeat the next day till you feel you've seen most of it and move to next location. I put bike in trailer so no one sees me trailering it. I told you I was smart.

I would teach my wife to drive the RV. Though I don't hold anything against CHL to do what he did. I don't ever expect me to have one of them fancy travelin' condo's.

Chris, how many miles are you up to now? I put a running counter in my signature & update it every time I ride.

I still don't know how to answer my bride when she says "you only think about one thing..."

drink your liquids,... a lot of riders tend to forget to drink water or non-alcoholic, non-caffinated drinks while riding. It makles a BIG difference on your riding. Dehydration is as bad as drunk driving, you can and will make bad choices.

Lol, you guys crack me up.... VD, lmao....
Sorry guys I never trailer my bikes, don't even own one. It is NEVER about the destination but rather the ride. I reckon I've ridden over a million miles since I started, mandering with a purpose. I come from a family of riders all different in our riding habits, philosophies and attitudes. I believe I'll post a little story I typed up a while back.... some enjoy reading it, but needless to say riding was introduced to us at a young age.

ps... I feel better for my day off, lol

It is that time of year. Dog Days of Summer. Time to lay back and fatten up for the winter.
