Just an FYI, I got a call today from the US DOT telling me they are investigating the Victory Vision front fender problem and he wanted to ask me some questions about mine.  Mine broke at 15,000 miles, I answered all his questions and we'll see what happens but at least they are looking into it.

this is interesting. has victory used the Same style and build quality through out the years? i also wonder (IF) victory did all the sudden "improve" their front fender build Quality without being forced to do this ., would this admit the prior one wasn't good enough? i just wonder if Victory is aware people have gotten together and filed a official complaint..

The questions I was asked were good ones in my opinion, and I gave him the answers he was expecting. I did not go into any speculations with him, just gave him straight answers relevant to his questions. I think what we'll find is Victory will come out of this unscathed, but with an apology. That's just my prediction, and there is no way I could explain how I'm coming to this conclusion. In the big scheme of things, this is a minor issue, even though we can reason that this could turn out disastrous under circumstances. He asked if I had the dealer replace it, and I told him no, I just applied my own fix which has worked very well for me. He asked why remove the front fender at all and I explained to him why and I had done a few times prior to it breaking. I also told him that I'm in maintenance field and I am very aware of how to do all aspects of automotive work. He also asked when I knew when my bike was manufactured. I told him I had no clue but gave him the purchase date. Pretty much after that we concluded the session.

I have no doubt Victory is aware of this and are in the process of making an announcement well before NTSB presents any findings.  At best, a inspection recall will come where you will take your bike to a dealer to determine if you are at risk.  Then one or two things will happen, you will get new bolts or if you have cracks on your fender, you will get a new fender.  I think we will find they will not have to replace many.

NTSB called me also. Bless his heart; it took several days before we could talk - every time he called I was busy and unable to talk at the time.
