Shelby Twp. MI | wife and I went out today she said from time to time it feltas theough the trunk lid was rattleing or moving I checked when we got home yeah it moves some but does some taking...I asked her if she had all her weight against it when this occured she cant remeber...has this come up before any ajustments that can be made to tighten the lid more....thanks |

First check the bolts attaching the trunk to the bike. Look under the plastic plate, (it just pops right out), in the bottom of the trunk and make sure that hummer is secure.
Secondly, my trunk lid has a bit of play and rattles. There is no real adjustment that I've been able to find. I think I'm going to look for shorter pieces that go into the trunk latch - that seems to be where the problem lies. In the meantime, I found that some good old weather-stripping fits very nicely in the grove of the rubber gasket on the bottom of the trunk lid.
I'm sure others will chime in with their solutions. I know I've seen this discussed on the board before. |

| If it was just the trunk lid rattling, it sometimes occurs because the weather stripping in the trunk collapses and no longer makes a tight seal. One of the dealers out here told me they solved this by inserting a piece of rubber vacuum tubing into the weather stripping to puff it back out again. With the vacuum hose inside of the weather stripping, it no longer collapses and the trunk stops rattling. HTH, Tim

Linwood, MI | I think a lot of my rattling/buzzing comes from the plastic piece under the lights. If you open your lid and fiddle with the pieces a bit you'll see how loose and floppy they are. I just haven't had the time to take them all apart and try to stick something behind/under them to firm it up so they don't rattle any more. |
