I think some of these magazine writers and editors sold out some time ago..now they reap what they have sown...

read the fine print. These numbers are ONLY from magazine rack sales NOT subscription members. If you think about it
people who do not own motorcycles, wouldnt usually pick up a motorcycle magazine off of a stand regularly. Most people who do ride
motorcycles have subscriptions and thus wouldnt be represented in this article. Honestly, I think this article says a lot about nothing.
Heck, with my 3 magazines per month, i personally feel i am keeping at least a couple publishing company employees employed.

I ride and don't have any main stream subscriptions and tend to believe most are like me and only pay for issues that reference bikes or rides that peek my curiosity.

It's really all because of me, don't spend a dime on them. The only issue I wanted to get is when they had the write of the Vision in one of the chopper type rags, don't remember the name. You can mostly find what you want online, but I do my own review everytime I ride. Today was an unusally nice ride! Enuf said!

I have tried a couple of subscriptions, but I end up getting bored with them. Much like the traffic in the other lane is always moving quicker, when I have a subscription, it seems all the good articles are in some other magazine. So... once a month a browse the magazine rack and grab something if it interests me.

+1 for Motocycle Consumer News. Here's a link to their web site -

Like you, I've been a subsciber for years, but mine runs out in May and I'm going to let go away. I've become bored with the mag. I only kept it for a long time because of the Fred Rau article, but not anymore.

I have one magazine subscription, a golf one as a gift for Christmas.

I rely on you folks and the internet to find something intersting to read about.

Most of the mags for American stuff are touted as magazines for HD riders and 99 percent of the contents are 99 percent of the time on HD. The other mags seem to be full of crotchrocket bikes. Very little interests me in these mags now. I have let all of my subscriptions expire and if I see something on the rack that is of interest I will likely purchase an issue. Otherwise, no thanks.

I subscribe to 6 or more MC mags, plus AMA, ROK, Victory & Honda all send me their periodicals. I get about 2' to 2-½' of magazines a year.

I am SICK & TIRED of write ups on Ducatis & BMWs, and that includes Motorcycle Consumer News. I think I saw a Ducatti once? I saw the trellace framework. What is the woody or money the editors get from these? I am also sick & tired of the "scraping" these guys do. Hell, hire me. I'll ride 5-10 MPH over the limit, take your corners, and I won't scrape a dang thing. It is a bad habit they taught themselves. Oh, and I don't care about races or racing. I will drop AMA and some others because of their racing mentality. I only joined AMA several years ago because they were suppose to fight for our insurance rights on personal healthcare policies.

Oh yeah, and while I am at it, I hate all their references to lane splitting. It ain't right, period. I don't want more, nor less rights than a car.

Herb
