I was browsing the gallery the other day and saw Crawford's picture at age 15 on his BSA.

Most of us have seen the post with pics of Sonny Barger and his Vision, and I dare say that most of us are old enough to remember what Sonny looked like "back in the day".

So heres a challenge; to look back and perhaps poke a little fun at ourselves while the weather is wet and cold (even in California).

The first photo is circa 1973 (I was 19 and posturing for the girl behind the camera) the second is recent at Cal-Poly Pomona.

I understand now why my dad always shook his head when I stomped through the door. Youth is indeed wasted on the young.

Honestly...I WISH I had pics from way back when. I am without a doubt, positive I don't.

If I can remember though, I think this is the order of bikes I had since I was sixteen to today:

1. 1972 CB750F (Honda)
2. 1985 or 86 Honda VF45Magna
3. 1982 CB900
4. 1988 800 Shadow (my first twin and wish now I had kept it...they only made a few 800's. Most were 700cc)
5. 1986 Honda VF45Magna - Must have like the first one...heh heh!
6. 19?? Suzuki Katana 600 - First time I went over 160 on a bike. Woohoo! Yeah...I was STOOOPID...no helmet, t-shirt, jeans and running shoes. Man...I can't believe it! I love speed...but that was was purely idiotic!
7. 2001 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic - Still own this one
8. 2008 Vision Tour Premium - Hate to be this way because I don't believe things are 'forever'...but I will have THIS bike forever!

I am sure I had a couple of other bikes back in the day. I just can't remember them because they were THAT bad! Won't forget my Vision though!

Like I said, I wish I had pics of me from way back. I was a skinny, scrawny little sh!t that loved bikes and I am SURE I looked like a dork. But then again...maybe not...the girls liked me (thank God!).

Great pics Tarpits! Thanks for getting me to relive, re-think and enjoy my riding life over again...at least for a few minutes!

Good Grief! I'm older than the 'boomers' - and I should remember all the old bikes??? Yikes!

1. 1951 Vincent 'Black Shadow' - got as a gift when I was 15 - Gave it away when it broke my leg - about 1959. Start of a love affair with all bikes.....

2. Honda 90 Trail - about 1966 - first of 12 bikes - mostly Hondas, and used to race, and explore every logging road withing 100 miles of Vancouver. Super 90's, 160 Twin, Geeze......

3. 1968 BSA Lightning (650cc) - my second 'big' bike about 1972.  One Hour Riding - Two Hours Tightening every bolt on it. First time I had the wife out for a ride - she was giggling like a little girl. I leaned back and asked "What's so funny?" - she said: "The vibration is making me HORNEY!". I friggin near dumped the bike right there.

4. 1973 Suzuki Hustler - 250cc Two Cylinder Two Stroke - I used it to blow off EVERY Harley in town who dared go against me!!!!

5. 1975 Honda CB350 Twin - No more stinking oil clouds for me! 4 Stroke Forever!

6. 1979 Yamaha Virago 750 - First year for the V-Twin - and it could blow off every big American twin - easily. Made money with it on more than one occasion.....

7. 1981 Virago 750 - purchased in about 1986 due to Harley's move to outlaw Japanese bikes over 700cc. (you bike 'history buffs' should look that up, or ask me about it). So I went from 50,000 miles on my original Virago down to zero miles on the new one for $1,000. A year later - picked up a 1000cc Virago engine and swapped out the 750. Rode the thing for years and years - about 1996, when I moved from Canada to Orlando Florida with my bad heart.

8. 1977 Honda 750 Police Special - someone sold me an ex-RCMP bike for $1 - I put $1,500 into it - and had it shipped to Florida where I rode it for 4 years 97-01 - it was always a 'hit' at Daytona - a white Cop Bike. Sold it before I came back to Canada (after my 5-bypass surgery that couldn't be done in Canada).

9. 1997 Virago - Purchased for $5,000 in 2002 - it had $5,000 in extras - can be seen in my Gallery - loved Virago's - drove that one until after I bought the Vision - then sold it for $5,000 when I realized I loved the Vision more!!!!

So - likely will only have 4 or 5 more in my life - All of them Visions.....
