$12,100 for a Street Premium.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150315014285&sspagename=STRK%3AMEDWX%3AIT&viewitem=

Considering the year and mileage this is a pretty decent deal.

However....not sure which way to think of this though. I guess the question is did someone truly get a good deal? Or is the value of the Vision dropping like a brick?

I really hope its the former.

Even though I plan on keeping my Vision for a long time I do hope the value isn't plummeting south like a pair of saggy boobs

No, the Vision's resale is not dropping like a brick. I've had my 06 VStar Silverado on ebay
3 different times in the last 2 months. Generally, people don't want to spend for, what the bike is worth, especially on ebay. I've checked for comparison, on ebay, the Honda GoldWing. All the
bikes are not getting what the seller is asking, many times being Relisted at lower prices, and still not selling.

Great point...I put my Arlen Ness Jackpot on ebay and it never got above $13,000, yet I was able to get over $16k as a trade in at the dealer. Some things just don't do well on ebay.

I'm not sure what the dealer was thinking though. As for the resale of any item they ALWAYS drop due to depreciation. Even our beloved brothers on HD's are having a hard time selling them.

Cheers!

A closer look at the numbers and information will reveal that the bike is less then a year old yet it has closer to 10,000 miles on it then
2000 miles. It also has NO warranty left... doesnt anyone think thats odd? I think this is clearly either a dealers demo bike, or it is someone in the mortgage financial rouine stew pot, and they are trying to get rid of it ASAP based on what they owe left on it. Also I agree, very little that is worth great value, sells for great value on Ebay. Case in point two weeks ago our company posted one of our employees for sale on Ebay as a joke to see the response. Ken only brought 2.75 !!! There is no such thing as something for nothing. I can guarantee you with almost certainty that there are reasons that the bike sold for that amount. No one would sell an 18k bike for 12k unless there was a reason. Humans are not that generous anymore.

Another one....

$13,000 for a Street with only 525 miles http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320324681405&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&viewitem=

Need to keep in mind what kbb and nada and edmunds prices are what the vehicle is being RETAILED for, or in other words what a dealer is asking. The prices these places list is NOT the actual selling price.

I watch Ebay....a lot. It is a good indicator of true value of a vehicle. True, its not an indicator of a true dealer retail price. But is an good indicator of "street" or private party pricing.

I get a kick out folks who list thier bikes or cars or whatever and say "priced below KBB retail" or whatever. Very very very few vehicles of any type ever sell for retail price. So of course you need to price below KBB....otherwise you will probably never sell.

As mentioned already....sometimes bikes on Ebay don't sell for what they are "worth"...well where is this "worth" coming from? Its coming from kbb, nada and the like. So they are relisted, usually several times until they possibly sell. You want to know what your bike or car and such are truly worth? Do some research on Ebay using completed auctions that are green, because these have actually sold for an actual price, which is an actual "worth" to someone.

With a 6309 S/N I figure the bike was built in late January of 08, so not sure why it would not have warranty other than it may not be transferable. It stated that it was previously owned so it had to be titled and not a demo bike, a demo would carry the warranty. Blue Book is probably around 14K at best for a trade, you might get a little more to a private sale. There is no doubt it was dumped........makes it a ittle rough for the rest of those wanting to sell, but great for the buyer.

Personally I don't care too much about the resale. Well, I say that until I really NEED to sell it. But, I plan on having it well past the time when it is paid off. I have thought about it many times, especially right after I bought it and the reality of how much I just spent sunk in. But, after the first hour of riding it, I knew it was the most comfortable bike I had ever ridden and that I'd ride it till the wheels fell off. Then fix it and ride it some more. But, it does make me sad that had I waited, maybe I could have picked one up for that price, but I don't have that kind of luck and so, I never would have won the bid. I have yet to win a bid on ebay anyways. I always get outbid right at the end. But, I think once the economy turns back around, I think you'll see the resale go back to a more acceptable level. Everything right now is a fire sale price because people are hurting so bad. Luckily, it hasn't hit me yet, but if it does, I hope that I can hang on to the bike, because I doubt I could talk the wife into letting me buy one again later!

The Vision Street that sold for 13,000 is listed as a 2008 VICTORY VISION PREMIUM but it is a 2008 VICTORY VISION STREET but not a PREMIUM. No chrome bars is a dead giveaway.

It looks like a base model with Gatling tips.

I have to partially agree with Marc concerning the resale value, I just don't care. Someone made the comment about me riding all the time and in the rain and asked if I was worried it would rust out. I told him I'd wear it out first before it rusts. I'm glad I bought when I bought and have not looked back. In the scheme of things I guess I could clasp my hands on my face and scream "What have I done, do you realize how much this "luxury" item cost and I do not have the money or the income for expensive play toys.

However, the Vision is what I get around on daily and take exception when folks call it my toy. Having been on the Vision daily for 17 months minus a very few days, and once when held hostage by the dealer, I've racked up 38K on this machine. I would not nor could not have waited for a "deal" to come along. Though this was a special early order by someone else, this Vision was marked for me. I would not ever think about buying another bike that was used unless I had no other way to afford one or it was an indian or other special bike. To me it is like buying a used mattress or a used pair of shoes.

va, I agree with your ideas of wat a bike is, it is transportation. It always blows my mind when someone tells me it is a luxury item or asks me if I'm worried about resale. I've put a bunch of miles on a bunch of different and very expensive motorcycles. No matter how little you ride them they will depreciate, so you better enjoy them because you paid as though you had. I bought my 2008 at the end of April last year, rode it pretty much every day I could through September and I've ridden a few odd weekends since. She had 12k on the Odo when I parked her for winter in September and hs a couple hundred more from those odd rides over winter. Enjoy the bike, thats what its for.
As for the Ebay bikes? Well I won't slag anyones riding habits but 6500 miles on a bike from MS where it can be ridden year round? The owner probably just needed out from under it and figured it wasn'treally being used as much as it could be. Priorities change sometimes.

When I have five years on my Vision and it is paid off, I plan on getting something like a Kingpin Low. I really enjoyed the KP Low, it is a real pleasure to ride. I might even buy a used one from eBay.

But just like my purchase of the Vision I will wait till the time is right for me.

I will keep the 2008 Vision till I ride the wheels off of it, then buy new wheels....most likely in Chrome.

I really doubt that any other Touring class motorcycle will fit my short legs as well as a Vision.

Ride Safe

I don't mean to imply anything, I'm looking at it from the tour standpoint. If I was down and still wanted to ride I'd get what I could. I've thought about getting a buzz around bike and that rule would't apply, I'd like a new KP low though..

Okay....so what's the point in this thread? I prefer to ride instead of worrying what my bike is worth. Cars, truck and motorcycles depreciate (unless you have a fancy vehicle). Maybe you guys are in 'cold weather land' and are bored :-)

No matter what you are trying to sell, it's only worth what someone will pay.
Go out and ride and worry about the stupid drivers. :P
