Hey All

I am considering trying the Liquid glass products. Just wondering how well it actually works in relation to its own hype? Does it do well on Chrome? And does the Liquid glass polish/finish the detail spray work equally as well? I am guess that they spray would be more convenient.

Thanks

I'm not 100% sure but I believe I was the first to recommend the LG for folks Visions rather than the little plastic strips everyone was buying. So here is what I can tell you. Make sure the bike is real clean and dry, dish-washing soap seems to work best to remove old wax and junk. Apply a minimum of 3 coats of LG buffing it out between coats but make sure you allow at least 1 hour between buff outs and new application. From there I simply apply a new coat every two or three washes. Each time you apply a new coat it will look shinier. Follow the instructions on the can if you get a scratch, but this much I can say. If you do get a scratch after the 4th coat, it will be in the liquid Glass and not your paint. I've never used their detailing spray so I can't comment on it. Hope this helps and it is good stuff.

I just ordered 2 cans of LG. Question....what's the best prep method that you guys used prior to applying the LG? Thanks!

I've always been a Meguiar's fan because it works well and is easy to find but any good quality stuff will work.  If your paint is in good shape but you just want to prep it for the LG I would go with something like this: http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/product_detail.asp?T1=MEG+A3016

Tom, you are correct in that meguiars makes a very good product BUT plain old dishwashing soap will do a fantastic job of removing road junk and old wax in prep for the LG.
I was really concerned about applying the first coat of liquid glass when I first decided to try this product (about 1981). The directions call for a prep cleaner made by LG but NOBODY carries it nor could I find it online when I checked recently. So I asked one of the best paint shops in town. They said Dawn dish soap is probably the best thing to remove crap from any surface you are detailing and that is what they use. Who would have thought, lol.
Hope this helps....... T

No argument here!

Now if I could just find the magic cleaner for the front aluminum grill that catches all the bugs and grime!  I need something heavier duty than the detailer mist and a microfiber cloth.

Tom, go by your local Honda dealer and buy a can of Hondaline Spray cleaner, they'll know. Stuff is fantastic. Now if you want something that works as well but takes up less space in the saddlebag, NOVUS 1. I just bought a new bottle this morning and I wouldn't travel without it. Works on the body panels, windshield, Aluminum panels, everything. It is all I used to clean up my bike last year when on the road for a week to Maggie Valley. It must be the NOVUS "1" and not the 2 or 3. Spray on (pump bottle) let sit about 30 seconds and wipe bugs and junk off. Polish up a bit and off you go. Hope this helps.... T
ps... I HATE to clean bikes so if it sounds like I know far too much about cleaning it is because I do everything I can to avoid it, lol

Thanks Teach.  I'll be on the hunt for Novus 1 this afternoon.  Not sure when I'll be in the vicinity of a Honda dealer but will check out the spray next time I see one.

This will sound strange but the best thing I have found for taking bugs off is Bounce, the stuff for your dryer. We have a large 5th Wheel and a Freightliner and when we hit the road the bugs hit us big time. A fellow RVer shared this trick with me. Simply dip the Bounce sheet in some water and wipe the bugs away. You will be amazed. The nose of the Freightliner and the 5th wheel are fiberglass and it does not mar the paint or dull it at all. Have used it many times now.

Previous post....Ever hear of Bugslide?

I took my bike to work the other day...I get a company car but it was too nice so I took the Vision...and ended up getting my client to play hooky in the afternoon and we went for a scenic tour...gorgeous in SW Wisconsin in the fall.

First time we road together but I knew he was a big HD rider and we talked about bikes all the time. I followed him to his house and was going to tell him about this awesome non-scratching bug wax (McGuires) that I use to get off bugs from the windshield...and before I can tell him he walks up to my Vision and sprays this stuff on my windshield, front of the fairing and wipes all the bug guts and stuff off in about 10 seconds! It was UNREAL! I never had seen a product that good.

Anyway...I emailed him on Sunday and asked him what the hell that stuff was and more importantly where I can get it. I saw him yesterday at a meeting and he walks in with a spray bottle of BUGSLIDE. It also comes with it's own special soft micro-fiber towel and he gives it to me.

On the side of the bottle is this website and you can order online...$20 and it ROCKS!

Thought I'd share the news. The website even has the ability to look up a dealer near you!

Vinner1, yes another great product. I don't know about you but I try to avoid one job products when traveling in favor of products that will do multiple jobs (thats just an info you type comment not a challenge). For the $4.95 Novus has proven to be extremely productive for multi-purpose application. My brother uses some kit he picked up at a Rally which makes a bike shine like new in about 10 minutes total time. I'll see if I can find out what its called and where to get it.
