We've got two beamer riders at work and usually they just call me the victory man in passing. I left early today and for some strange reason we had a minor fire but the building wasn't evacuated except the second floor where the "fire" was. Both beamer riders are on the 2nd floor and one was out by his bike when I was leaving.

He gave me the cordials and then he asks, "Does that bike get hot?" I told him it will, especially on the right side but it is easily tolerated. He then tells me that his bike gets very hot on long rides. I told him I understood because the feet are directly behind the heat makers, the cylinder heads. I said I like the narrow profile and how the V-twin doesn't cause that problem. He says he use to ride a Harley but "he wanted something, uh, luxurious".

He says he really likes the lines of the bike and admires it and then he starts saying he likes his heated seat and grips. I tell him, got it. He says he likes his cd player and radio. I tell him I've got an ipod connection and radio. He then quips and the Wx channel also. Got it. He then asks if I have electronic cruise control, Yep! He then tells me he don't want to hold me up knowing I'm leaving for the day.

I left there not feeling that I was better or smarter than another, just happy I made the right choice in rides.

I concur with you 100% But, it's interesting to see the looks and expressions, with how our new kid on the block is right up there with all the goodies, that are on the other luxurious tourers.

Yes, the folks at Victory did their homework when they planned the Vision. At the 10th get together in Daytona they had many pics of the work in progress. One photo I really liked was a full dress HD on the left, a GW to the right and a Vision prototype in the center. When Victory was coming out with the V92C back in beginning they had bought several types of bikes to throw around ideas of what riders want instead of some bean counter dictating.
I get the most positive comments from BMW owners.

I have had several GW riders make similar comments about what their bike has.

Next time you talk with them tell them that Greg Brew who is the industrial designer on the Vision joined Victory in 2004 after being the lead designer on the BMW touring bikes for several years. With a design crew of Michael Song, Greg Brew, and Arlen and Corey Ness Victory got it right.

the plot thickens.

purchasing motorcycles to some is a deep science, and very much so to some here "trying" the Vision. My approach is simple, I like to ride, and I want to be comfortable doing it. Now, that is a duh, no brainer, but there has to be something else here in the mix for folks as the other makes are still selling strong ~~~ but the Vision is catching on. So I guess the real question is how do folks want to ride? I'm one to slouch back into a comfortable chair and that is the way I like to ride as well. I felt like I was on the edge of my seat in a suspense thriller on the Wing and never could get that cruiser feel out it.

So anyway, I'm just glad that the Vision came along at the time that it did as I might have been riding something else wanting something better. That's not a problem with the Vision.
