I'm just posting to let all know what I did to finally fix my screw up on overtightening the drain plug on my Vision.
About a month ago, I installed a helicoil. I'm not sure if it was a faulty installation or not, but it weeped like an old HD. It haunted me, I lay awake at night knowing it was dripping in the garage. I talked to several people about what to do.
A friend who has been an auto mechanic, aircraft mechanic and shade tree bike mechanic told me about an insert called a Time Sert. I'm self employed and didn't have time to deal with it for a couple of weeks.
I've been coordinating with Kevinx to get his magic done on my bike and in doing so asked him his opinion of what I should do. He said the same thing, use a Time Sert.
Well I had to order the correct size and when it arrive it took about 15 minutes to install, if that long.
And finally it's fixed.
Looking forward to meeting Kevinx and getting the cam and VFC upgrade!!

For those of us that may have to do the repair in the future......... What size, how much and where did you get it?
Thanks.

I had to have what they refer to as a Big Sert because I had already drilled and tapped for a helicoil. It was a complete kit that included a 37/64th drill bit, a counter sink bit (to countersink the insert to have a flush finish with the crankcase), a tap, an insertion tool for the solid insert and 5 inserts. $118 not cheap but worth every penny of it. Go to timesert.com for dealer info. There were 2 in my area, the first one I called had no clue, the second, a local industrial supply house, knew exactly what I needed and had it drop shipped to me via UPS.
If I had it to do over again, I would have ordered a shorter insert than comes standard with the kit. They are about twice the height of the crankcase thickness, so I had to cut one down to make it work. A good coating of Red Loc-Tite and all is good.

I do inserts, and helicoils in my job all the time. Helicoils are not fluid-sealing. They are just a coil, after all. A solid insert would possibly be, but a sealing washer would be the best bet for an oil-tite seal. Nothing wrong with a heli-coil, and they are my first choice for thread restoration with twin-serts, slimserts, and solid inserts following up. Glad you fixed your leak!-----Metalguy
