Thanks for the kind words!

Question? What does the "+1" mean?

Thank, Rex

LSR, i'm glad you're well enough to type and to talk about getting back in the saddle soon. sorry to hear about your glide.

sound like you like riding a lot, and you won't be disappointed with the Vision. I'll be dialing in 52,000 before my 22 month anniversary week after next.

'+1' = agree with the previous post.

Teach-this is copied from above. "Exharley, I almost traded mine for a HD a few months back when I was having issues without resolutions. I must say I don't have the blowing around issue BUT yu might have your dealer check your rear suspension bushings."

Below is copied from your post about wobble. this is the wind problem i am talking about. way worse than on the ultra.

"Just be REAL careful in gusty winds (20+ mph) that come directly from the side because the Vision does become a very big sail and requires a great amount of rider input and lean to keep from being blown off the road."

There were several posts following yours acknowledging the wind issue. Actually i think your analogy regarding becoming a big sail is close to accurate. It's almost like the windshield is tacking like a sailboat against the wind.

exharley, yep I posted that about being careful of winds "directly from the side." The reason for that statement was a return trip from Maggie Valley in which I rode right into a storm due to lack of weatherband. I also had some issues with slipping on metal bridge beams and handling issues on checkering. Two weeks after this return trip I had the rear shock bushing replaced and have not had any repeat performances. The bike will get blown around some in heavy winds (as did my RG's), but I haven't gotten the wobbles in a long time. My assumption was the bushing were the cause of the wobbles. The getting blown sideways a simple matter of physics, but I notice the wind movement much less these days. Might be me having adjusted? Hard to say but I do pay extraattention in winds hitting directly from the side.
If you are getting moved around MORE than you did on your Ultra, something is up. Either there is something on the bike making it overly touchy or the wind is causing you to react more than you have on your HD. I'm a little concerned with some of the Visions handling characteristics, but I think a fork brace will cure my issues. You might need to consider a steering damper?

Thanks for the explanation. Please keep me posted on the fork brace. I love the way the bike handles and don't consider that I have handling issues with it. Maybe that is because I am coming off the ultra and this is just so much better being a frame not a handlebar mounted fairing. My last ride back from the same area was very tough. Greenville SC through western NC to West Va. Wind was more than I could take. Not comfortable at all being blown around by cross winds. No issues with trucks. I am not complaining about the wiobble on the other post, just making the case that it is real after some tried to explain it away. First couple of times it was unnerving, now I know what it is. But the crosswinds.........

I think that most of the wind problem is rider based. Side winds feel very strange on thse bikes. Almost like the wind cutting the wheels out from below you, and not like the top is being pushed around. I still find it pretty difficult to stay loose when the wind starts gusting. When I first started test riding them I thought they all had bad wheel bearings

+1.  Rider input explains much of the wobble.  I've ridden bikes that kicked from a wobble into a tankslapper.  It seems counterintuitive, but there are two ways to stop it.  Cranking the throttle usually will smooth out the ride.  Again this is very counter intuitive, but the other is simply to release the bars, or at least relax fully.  You don't feel like you are putting input into the bars, but even a little input can translate into a much greater slap.

Rubber mounted HDs are much worse than the Vision.  We have some wicked winds here in the mountains and I know that the bike has more surface area than my last dresser, but I never have felt the wobble on the Vision.  On my Brother's Classic it can get scary.

On a very rainy and breezy day here in Central Va, I decided to ride. I had my share of hazards, one was when I was talking off from a stop sign I got the tire spinning and sliding. I just just backed off the throttle, gained tractions and off I went.

On I-95 I got a little intimidated with the wind, rain, and the aggressive traffic, which gave me a feeling I don't have on the Vision. I was wandering in my lane and I begin to think this wasn't a good idea to ride today. Then I realized something, I was all clinched up in my shoulders and arms, tight.

I had to have a little talk with myself and I loosened up. From there on out it was smooth sailing the rest of the way.

Everyday is a great day to ride...

i give up. it's not high speed wobble that he was talking about. the handle bars don't move back and forth and the front tire does not wander. if youhaven't felt it you can't understand it.

Wobble/wind has been covered by the forum in a lot of threads. Concensus is that any 'discomfort' is "rider input" - and NOT a problem with the Vision. I agree - in 2 years of riding my VV in the northwest mountains - where winds can strike from anywhere - the Vision is absolutely wonderful in winds from ANY direction - just relax !
This reminds me of one guy who's thread described a HORROR SHOW with his VV - kept taking it back to the dealership saying "the bike is broken". Of course - they take it out for a test - and the bike was fine. This guy just simply could not adjust to the concept of 'not tensing up' when he passed a truck, or one passed him.

A the Vision will scare the crap out of you if you tense up around trucks

my FIRST blasts with winds, whether trucks or crosswinds made me think twice about riding. About 1,500 post ago I mentioned this and realized I was trying to ride my Vision like my old rickety Goldwing (GL1200). When I relearned my body to the handling of the Vision it has been one sweet love affair...

but with that said, I believe others could have a problem with their bike and would caution anyone to shake it down before further riding. JMHO.

I had my GF on the back and we blasted by a truck at 90 and I thought I was a goner. She did too.

Since, I have learned to relax and let the bike do the work and I just give input as needed...not as I want to! MAJOR difference!
