I replaced both front and rear pads with EBC pads last week and the braking is much improved but at 50 + MPH I get a whirrr sound from the front wheel. I thought some one posted that somewhere and that it was the holes on the disc making the sound. Is this normal with the EBC's?

I am also running the EBC pads... I have no whirring sound. How did you break the pads in?

Don't worry........this "whirr" sound goes away once you get a bit over 100 mph

Trust me

I suggest removing the front pads and cleaning the brakes real good. Maybe a small piece of old brake pad got where it shouldn't. I wish I had a good lift so I could have cleaned my rears as good.

Here is how KevinX recommends breaking in new pads. I used his first method below and it worked great:

Burnishing brakes is a often over looked item when doing the job.

If you have the time you do 30 slow stops from 30MPH over a 30 minute span

If you don't have a bunch of time then spin the bike up to about 50MPH, and lightly apply the brakes for one second intervals. Wait 15 seconds between aplication for cooling. Do this about 20 times, and you are in business

Both methods work for about ay disk brake. NEVER use the second method on a vehicle with drum brakes

Thanks 1Atom12 I'll try that. There is no bad metal sounds or anything that sounds ugly. It just sounds like wind in the front wheel. I did a shearch and someone had a similar sound and was told that it is because the EBC didn't have as many break lines in the pads and it was the pad pushing air through the holes in the disc. Just wondered if it was normal.

My V92C also had the whirring with the EBC pads up front.  I was happy enough with the pads performance I didn't mind the noise.

I also found the noise went away around 100 mph...

Yeah hgrail I am very happy too, just wanted to make sure everything was ok, as I said they work great and it is not a harsh sound. This is the first time I changed my own breaks on any bike.
