| I would like to have the lights on the trunk be brake lights and turn singals in addition to running lights. Mesa, Az Victory doesn't know if anyone has come out with a light mod yet. Whould anyone else be interested in getting more brake lights on the back of the bike.

20 miles west of Chicago. | Yeah, that and a headlight modulator. Anything to be more visible to those non-driving mopes whose brains don't register and process visual images of motorcyclists in traffic. They would see a 3 pound cat in the road and manage to avoid it, but not a half-ton plus of bike and rider.

| I am working on a set for mine with possible additional lights. My last hurdle is finding a suitable dual light for the existing housing. The housing is pretty shallow and height is pretty small. I have looked at incandescent bulbs, and am now looking LED options. I have located a controller that takes the power from battery so it will not overload the existing wiring harnesses. I will post some picts when it is done. Tim |

If you are planning on using LEDs than you don't have to worry about current draw on the stock wiring as the LEDs draw so little it won't make a difference. The one thing you will have to worry about though is if you want to use them as turn signals you might need to wire a load equalizer for each side. Many of my fellow VTX riders have installed the Kury-Akyn or Signal Dynamics LED turn signal conversions on their VTXs and have also needed the load equalizer so that they get a proper flash rate on the turn signals. You can forget about all of the above if you just want to use the trunk lights as running/brake lights, no flashing involved so no need for a load equalizer.  |

Florida | I would like to find a way to replace that silver Victory logo (on the back of the trunk) and replace it with a bright LED "strobing" brake light. I want to make sure I'm seen by the cars behind me. |

Tacoma, WA | If you are going with L.E.D.'s as additional turn signals in the trunk, you do not need a load equalizer, as you will still have your stock lights below to keep things working normally.----Metalguy |

| I thought of making the "VICTORY" light up in RED as a stop light. Then I started toying with the following to preserve the appearance of the bike and bodywork.

| So far what I am doing is using a ModuLite powered trailer hitch lighting module and an extra relay. The ModuLite pulls the power from the battery and only takes a small amount of current from the existing harness for the signal, stop and tail lights. This keeps the existing harness from being overloaded and eliminates the need for load balancers.
I wanted something that would serve dual duty (support extra running lights plus support a trailer if a hitch ever comes out for the Vision). I have tried various types of LEDs and incandescent configurations. This seems to be the best so far. The final version should wrap 3/4 around the trunk inside of the seam and serve as running, turn and stop lights. Since it is in the seam, it will not stick out of the bike and will only be visible when it is on. It will not look like a bolt on application seen on other bikes. It should preserve the inlaid styling of the rest of the bike.
I still plan on making the existing trunk lights into STT lights as well, but will most likely have to mod the back of the housing to fit it for dual level LEDs. I am also trying to make the mirrors into turn/stop lights for drivers in the blind spot like what the GL1800 has. It will also be powered from the ModuLite powered module. Tim P.S. The mirror lights are directional LEDs so they are very apparent to drivers in the blind spot, but only produce a halo to the driver. Being such, the driver should not get blinded by them when it is dark. The mirror LEDs are also inlaid into the seam so they doe not stick out to preserve the appearance of the bike.

west bend, wi | Hey TimS - I like the light you picked for the trunk. Doesn't look like individual LEDs - what is it? The light looks 'smooth' in the picture - I like that look - I'd like to play with those as well. Can you tell us where you got those?
On another note has anyone looked into the Kisan tail light modulators? Which one would work on the Vision? If not that's something on the top of my list..... I'll have to start that process.... |

I was on a mission to get a tail light modulator for my Vision in December. Then I started looking at the Vision tail light and how it has the turn signal light basically built into the V light. I'm concerned about the flashing of the brake lights in certain circustances may not let the drive behind me I'm changing direction. I do like the idea of the trunk lights getting into the brake/turn act though. Maybe someone will come up with that soon. |

I still want a 'flashing' brake light - the Kisan decays to solid on in 4 seconds - but that might still mask the turn signal - 4 seconds can be an eternity... If I can figure out what might work I might try it to see if it is acceptable... Guess I'll be making some calls tomorrow.... |

LaPorte,Tx. | If the brake light lense was amber, that would be a different story. But with all red, braking and and lane changing may be confusing to those behind. I know my friends have HDs with their turn signals changed to red and they have a modulator. When riding behind, you have to second guess sometimes what they are going to do. With an amber lense, it is a different story. I'm sure someone will come up with something, someday that will work. |
