I have had my o8 vision to the dealer 3 times for belt adjustment, they adjust it , stop the chirping but it comes right back after a couple thousand miles, this is the only problem i have had at 10,000 miles, unlike the last bike ;( it used more cat litter than my cat ) wont mention any names, Wondering if anyone else has had this noise issue with thier Vision.

the laminated shouldn't cause that problem, mine looks like it has the mange and I have no chirping. The adjustment is looser than the orignal tension and that seems to cure that the problem, that an proper alignment.

I heard there's a redesigned rear sprocket to correct this. COnsult your dealer.

There is not a new sprocket. I just got a call from my dealer today about this problem. Adjust it and 2 weeks later it's chirping again. There were some pulleys that were not machined correctly and Victory is replacing these. He is sending in the warranty claim tomorrow...they won't do this on the phone...has to be email. I am not sure how to know if you have one like this other than you can't get it to stop chirping.

That doesn't always work. Beleive it or not, there are truely fubar rear pulleys centered around the 08's. I have one. I suspect many others do/did as well. I'm sure some simply needed adjusted. It's taken me this long to get someone to send me a warrantied replacement. I'm doing the work myself when I replace the rear tire and sending back the old one. I've had 2 other mechanics try to align/tension mine and I've done it myself a couple times with no luck. Once in Centerville, Utah and again in Tulsa, OK it was done professionally by authorized Victory techs. The procedure is not rocket science but is time consuming. Mechanics who fix these things for a living have told me that the pulley squeal on my bike is an issue they could not fix with alignment. One service manager has admitted to me in person that there was a rash of pulleys that came in and could not be silenced with adjustment. I seen the "fix" posted on the site and decided to buy an expensive adjustable belt tension tool (which I will eventually need anyway, so no loss) to dive in and try it myself. Following the steps in the service manual, rolling the tire backwards and forwards while tracking the belt position and using my tension tool did not cut it. The spec changed on the rear pulley tension and it did nothing for me when I loosened mine to the new spec. I can't tell for sure while it's still on the bike but my rear pulley seems to be narrower in some spots. It seems like the gap between the belt and the inner pulley varied when I had my bike on the lift. It could have been the shadow and the lighting, so I won't swear to it. I'll definitely take my calipers to it when I remove the old one. If that is the case, I'll take pictures and post my findings. The new pulley is going to be the only fix for my bike. There are probably some still floating around that will need pulleys. The problem is that you will not know until the coating the pulleys ship with wears off. The coating or lack thereof seems to be completely random. I think there are other folks who have reported on this forum that theirs looked like it was falling off too but was not causing any problems. I SUSPECT (I'm no wrench) that the coating was only intended to keep the bike quiet until its proper break in period when it would no longer be needed. After that you either have problems or you don't. Hopefully lack of proper attention to my rear pulley has not damaged my drive belt or I will be VERY unhappy and she will go and sit in a shop until she is 100% (or I will be utilizing other avenues to persue this problem with Polaris). BTW, I just wanted to point out that I still love this bike. Not happy with this recurrence and how it's been handled but what can you do?

bigwill, I did all the same things you did and it did not help cure the problem of belt noise. My pulley was checked by the service dept. with it being ok. So, at the 30,000 mile mark I changed the belt, now after 11,000 more miles there is no noise from the belt.
The belt I took off looked brand new, I could not tell of any wear on the belt. The only way I could get the old belt to stop making noise was to run it tighter than specified. I tried the new specification and it just made more noise.
If anyone has a belt that is a problem and the pulley checks out good, I would recommend changing the belt, it worked for me.

Not meaning to throw fuel on a potential fire, but i am to understand that a service department took the time to remove your rear wheel, take the driven sprocket off and send it out to a machine shop that would have to means to check the sprocket properly. Thats some service department. Glad to know they actually go that extra mile and added expense on themselves and the cost of the machine shop to actually find the minor error that has shown up on this few sprockets that had to be replaced. I only say this cause i know that a dial indicator is not accurate enough while mounted on a bike to pick up the variations that can cause the chirping. Between the surface that the belt rides on to the machine pattern that mates up to the wheel hub and the bolt holes all makes a combined problem. Thats why the driven sprockets were changed, some items were so minute you would never find the problem with out fully checking all aspects of the sprocket and the mating surface to the wheel hub and then combing all variations that can accumulate and compound the issue. Luckily enough i have an early 08 with almost zero issues. I adjusted the belt one time at 14K when i replaced the rear wheel. Again i am not starting a debate or discussion, just sometimes there are more things in play than we initially think about or see.

First of all let me say I am no wrench. Sometimes I am amazed at the technical advise some of you people get into. When I had to have my rear tire changed out at 6500 miles, big bolt, my belt started chirping. I ride with a Harley guy who suggested I try a belt molly grease that Harley sells. I bought a tube,$4.95, and applied five or six pea sized drops while the bike was up on a jack and the bike running in first gear. That was six weeks ago and about 1100 miles. The chirping hasn't come back. Like I said, I'm no wrench. This could be just a temporary fix, but it's better than no fix.

The only reason that I did not use the belt dressing is that the mechanic that attempted the last belt tension/alignment told me it was a very bad idea. He said that it would be a sand magnet and because I live in the country, it wouldn't take long for it start eating up the belt/pulleys (as in both pulleys would then be affected). The next problem I have with it is the nagging question of "Why do a few bikes need this and the rest are fine?". If anyone can (and is willing to) disprove the sand problem, the belt dressing will be the very next thing I buy. I already have another pulley waiting for me at the house (hopefully) and a tire that needs changed, so I will be replacing mine regardless. If this and the belt do not fix the problem (I am pretty sure the pulley will at this point) then I agree wholeheartedly that the dressing fix is better than NO fix.

In my opinion, the coating on the pulley when new wore off in the first 6500 or so miles and some of it got imbedded into the belt. This may make the surface of the belt a little harder causing the chirping. I think belt dressing will help due to this. bigwill, I would try the dressing in a small amount even though you may live on a gravel road, I believe it will help and not cause you too much of an issue. I grew up on a farm and we always used belt and chain dressing on farm equipment, you just have to use the right amount. It would be better than the chirping. I changed the belt on mine and the chirping is now gone. I also thought that doing a very light buffing of the belt cogs would clean the surface of the belt.

Myself and a co-worker both had the pullys changed out under warranty and never a sound again. Both 08 visions.

Thanks for the heads up. If I get the chirping after the pulley change (mine actually squeals under load) I'm just gonna grab some belt dressing. I'm pretty sick of the whole issue anyway.

Update: I've put about 500mi on my bike since the rear pulley was replaced. I'm happy to say that the squeeling/chirping is gone. It got so terrible that you could hear it down the street when I was cruising parking lots. Honestly, I'm surprised the belt was still good after this. The issue was definitely centered around the rear pulley. Now I just have chase out the problem with whats left of decel popping and she'll sound beutiful.
