Greetings folks,

I was wondering what kind of mileage people were putting on their bikes before changing out the brakes.

I realize that riding style, load, road conditions all play into brake wear. I'm just curious as to what others are getting out of their pads.

I had new pads put on at 25,000. Looked like about 20% left on the front brake at that time.

Wow. What a difference. I didn't realize how worn they were. I probably pushed it a bit longer than I should riding two-up.

So, what has been your experience?

brakes? are those things that squeezes the round thing next to the wheels that allow you to get gas??? If so, then I've changed mine out any where from 15,000 to about 25,000. I need to check now, the rear is screeching from time to time.

I just did mine at 25,000. Rear had next to nothing left. One pad on the front had just started scraping metal to metal against the rotor. Caught it just in the nick of time not to need a rotor.

Front Brake Pads : Changed out at 17,000, 18,000, and last set at 16,000. Most of the time I'm at 90%. Rotors cost a lot more than pads.
Rear Brake Pads : Changed out at 26,000 and still had several miles left in them. Still on 2nd set at 51,641 and have the 3rd set in the trunk. ET
