New Bohemia, VA | What has it been, about week since someone started a thread on oil? Don, you keep score, right? Okay, I move on from my sarcaism and get to the point. I'm using Rotella 5w40 in the bike today. I just have to see for myself, but I had to get the assurance first and see the JASO MA rating as I don't see on the T6 or T5 sold at walmart. The heavy duty 5w40 has it right there.
Plus, the Vision is probably going down for the next two to three weeks as I piddle around and take it apart. I'll be working 4.2 miles from the house and that is too close for my rule to run the motor 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening. Unless I'm going at least 15 miles or more in a shot I don't want to run the bike so this makes it a good opportunity to shake down the bird. |

| Chris, I know what you mean by oil threads but I have to tell you and everyone else here that I am now a believer in the fully synthetic oils. I made the switch to Amsoil 10w40 two weeks ago and I am amazed at the difference in how the transmission shifts and how much the valve and gear (4th and 6th) noise has been reduced, it is almost as quiet as my old GL1500 Goldwing was and definitely quieter than my GL1800 was. The biggest thing for me is the change on how easy the transmission now shifts and even the "clunk" into first from neutral is quieter! |

New Bohemia, VA | I couldn't wait on you chris, I saw the Jaso MA and the next thing I knew I had a ST7317 in my hand standing at the checkout. It's idling now so I can check for leaks, then I've got to go on a short ride. I hope the sample test come out all right. |

Richmond, Virginia | I switched on my first oil change once i bought the bike to Amsoil. The heat difference was not to be believed, the bike runs cooler and i totally
agree with Travelin Man, the engine runs quieter and the shifts are smooth as snot on a slugs lips. I used to have problems
popping it into neutral when i was sitting idle, that disappeared once i switched to the Amsoil. |

New Bohemia, VA | I do, I do ride Don. What I did find exciting about changing to Rotella is the big jug + 1 qt. It was so easy to change out that I'm going to start looking for oil in the jug, because the clean up was easy, just pour the old oil into the jug, and there is enough room to accomidate the other half quart. That means my bike never left the yard, it took me about 30 minutes and my hot honey and I went for a ride. |

Southeast Iowa | Shhhhh boys...........don't say Amsoil so loud. Any time now your going to hear about how your motor running cooler isn't good for it, how using Amsoil will void your warranty, and how your clutch will start to slip. Don't forget that the Victory Engineers didn't specify it so it must be bad for your bike.
Personally I like the way the 20-50 performs even better than the 10-40 and buy Amsoil in gallon jugs. Like Varyder said it makes disposing of the used oil easier. |

San Antonio, TX United States | I just recently changed to the Amsoil 10-40. So far i have enjoyed it. Waiting till i get about 4K on the oil for a final decision. I am glad some people get a noticeable difference. Not sure it its cause of the climate i am in, but i have not noticed one bit of difference in temp. The temp disptick i use rides at the same spot it always has for the last 38K miles. I did notice a minor change in shifting and only on very rare occasions do i come across the trouble getting in neutral situation. My fuel economy did get better than with the stock oil. |

| I don't understand. First they say don't use amsoil is that cause the oil never changes color. They say don't run it 5 thousand miles between changes? What the metal gears and bearings are going to fail. There steal and the 2011 can go 5 thousand miles now and they changed nothing.
If you live in a big city or close to one get your oil analyzed after 5 thousand miles and they will tell you if your changing to soon or two late. They will tell you if there is metal in the oil and what kinda metal. All for around $20 bucks. Me I am going to run 20/50 and shoot for 7500 miles but thats after I get my oil analyzed. I have looked high and low and read every thing about oils I can. If you have 51 % of your oil Synthetic you can call it that but amsoil is the only one I have found to be 100%

New Bohemia, VA | I just came off AMSOIL 20w50 and wanted to try Rotella. I think at this point it doesn't really matter, but I'm glad I went with the $15.00 vs $50.00 because I'm pulling the exhaust and that means the oil has to come off. As far as the 5w40, that is what was on the shelf with JASO MA. |
