Brighton, TN | Since I'm not a newb, and I don't think I have ever seen it posted, yes I didn't do a search, oh and it's not about oil. But who knows, I may have to ask about oil. Oh, and don't forget to tell me about how I need to hone my skills, especially with throttle control, since I am obviously the one who broke the wire without proper skill sets. Did I miss anything? No, I'm not gonna go post this somewhere else, but I'm not really sure why I hang out here! Pour out a little to my long lost Homies and the way we used to roll!!
Now that I got that off of my chest!
Right handgrip quite working and after inspecting I see that the area where the wire runs out of the handgrip has torn and frayed. So, that being said. It seems I need new handgrips. Dealer says probably not under warranty, but gonna throw it to them anyway.
During the winter, with heavier gloves on, I can barely feel the heat, and my hands are pretty dang cold after an hour ride. Pretty sure I have poor circulation in the hands and it has always been this way, so no I don't need to go to the gym and/or see a doctor about the condition. Looking for a little more heat output. While measuring them, I believe they only got to around 105-107 degrees. Which ain't warm enough for me.
I rented a snowmobile and it had very hot handgrips through the winter heavy gloves I was wearing. Can I or has someone else put snowmobile grips on their bike?
Does anyone know how hot those handgrips get?
Where could I get them and what brand? I live in the south so they don't have them on the shelf here!
Any info would be great! |

Memphis | Hey Po, Might try going next door to the Polaris dealer and see what they say. They should be able to get snowmobile parts. |

Brighton, TN | Right, I don't know if they would fit or be warmer, or if I have to wire in around the stock wiring to handle the higher load, etc. I'm just so lost. |

| Say you can get a heated jacket that plugs into the bike battery and the jacket has plug inns for heater gloves now you could ride year around. I have a heated jacket from harley cause the collar warms up and my neck doesn't tighten up. I know victory has a heated jacket but I all ready had mine. |

Brighton, TN | I ride year round without heated gear. So far down to around 26 degrees Fahreinheightenglobulating. It is a tad chilly, but I still would like my heated grips working. |

Brighton, TN | All the Northerners on this site, a whining about how cold, can't ride, and rattle on about getting the snowmobile out. And not a single response to the contrary. Ya'll tooo busy riding and not reading the forum to post. Surely someone has had experience in this department. But maybe not! |

Northeast Ohio | Po, my right grip never worked right since i bought it. Took it to the dealership and they replaced the right one. It's really interesting that after they replaced just the right one, how they both feel hotter. On high, they are REALLY hot now (with light weight gloves). On low, I have to occassionally turn them off too.
Now that being said, every one of my friends think that we can ride into the single digits with heated grips. I have to remind them that it works great on the palm part of the hand, but not the outside. I ended up buying some Gerbing G3 gloves... Problem solved.

Pitt Meadows, BC Canada | Chickinman - if ya wear THICK gloves, then heated grips are USELESS.
In Canuckville, I wear regular riding gloves (give me a better 'feel' for the controls) - and the heated grips on LOW position are fine for temperatures down to 40F, and I seldom ride if it's colder than that - but occasionally use HIGH position - and no complaints.
Maybe you're just the 'sensitive' sort ....

| I don't know all the tech terms but I would assume that there is one rheostat to control both grips. Maybe it's located in the right grip or at least the temp sensor is?
I understand you would like warm hands. I wear heavy gloves in the winter and just want my hands not to be cold. I am guessing that the sensor would control the temp in either the m/c or snowmobile grips. Maybe just swapping that out would do what you want? Maybe there is an adjustment on the sensor or rheostat?
My snowblower has heated grips. My hands never got cold but they never seemed warm. I had it checked and was told they are working fine. Yes, it doesn't have a battery and just gets it's power from the magneto I think. The wiring diagram for them does not show a rheostat or separate sensor so I can't do much for you.

Brighton, TN | yes, I am the sensitive type or sort as you put it. My core for the most part down to my ankles are fine but my toes and fingers get brutally frozenish. there is a fella here who with the same grips on an 08 has no problems and doesn't wear big heavy thick gloves. It really is ME, not you!
Well, the right side grip has broken, actually torn the rubber outer shielding and broken the wires. Prior to that the grips seemed to get warm evenly on both sides. So, I need to replace them, just didn't know if I wanted to shell out the $199 +tax for grips that I would still be unhappy with. I compared it to another 08 and did temp readings and wound up with the same or close to reading, so I figure, they are designed that way. I've contemplated heated gloves for a while, just wasn't sure if it was worth the cash. I'm so lost. |
