My 2008 Vision has 33,000 miles on it.  I have noticed a small amount of oil spattered on my right-hand fairing trim over the last few weeks (about two thousand miles). It was obviously coming from the upper part of the front cylinder, but I didn't see exactly where it was leaking.  Today, the wrench at my dealer found that oil drops are weeping from two places in the second groove from the top, and said it is a faulty cylinder casting.  The dealer said it will be replaced under the five-year warranty.  I'll post more when the fix is done.  In the meantime, I'll continue riding daily until the replacement is in.

Keep an eye on your cylinders.  This is the first time I've heard of this problem.

I've seen it a few times - and he's right, pourous casting. All the ones I saw were 2007's though, never heard of an 08 doing this (till now).

bummer on that! But I don't think you're a lone ranger in this one, if I recall many moons ago in a land far away there was a similar issue but worse. They gave him a new engine as well and had to do some fancy stuff as there was no Victory mechanic in the country, I think in the LandDownUnder.

I'm glad they are taking care of you, that's like starting all over again, like a game reset. Take some good pictures if they'll let you as they have to seperate Silver in half. But in no time you'll be saying "Hi-yo, Silver, Away!

If there going to do the head you should see about cams after all warranty will be covering most of the labor

Hmmm.... good idea.  I have been thinking about cams anyway.  What is the cost of the cams and controller?

EDIT: Never mind; I found them on the Lloyds link from the front page. Very interesting idea.  Would I need anything besides the cams and fuel controller?  I would be keeping my stock pipes.

Mine was one of the first Visions delivered.  It was the first one in Birmingham, AL.

I'd like to get some pix - maybe the dealer will take them for me, as I will be in Fort Benning the whole time they're working on it.

And instead of Silver, maybe I'll have to call the bike BugSmasher, as it has been COVERED UP in bug carcasses lately.  Something to do with those thousand-mile weeks, I guess.

As of Friday, the dealer was still waiting for word from Victory.  Turns out they plan to replace only the front cylinder and not the entire engine.  I realize that I didn't quite catch that when they told me originally - just didn't think about the jugs being replaced separately, I guess.  They said it was a good thing that it was only one jug - replacing the entire engine would probably be a six-month paperwork process.

I'll still take it.  My extended warranty has been worth every penny I paid for it - and this was when it still cost about $900 to get an extended warranty, back in  '07.

Still thinking about having them do that cam job too, but haven't quite decided to pull the trigger on it.
