Hi all, I am planning on doing a cam upgrade. Here is the part list, and what I have now is 08 Vision S1/L1 gatlin tips other than that it's stock. Parts list, Victory performance air cleaner(I got one on ebay for $30), Lloyds intake plate, VFC-lll, Lloyds VM-1 cams. I have some Q's and hope someone else on here might have the same set-up. I am waiting on the cams to come in and I have talked to Lloyd about installing it myself(just wanted to know what to watch for). But since I have talked to him I wanted to get your views on this set-up and also does Lloyd do a reflash to my ECM and what he charges for that. Also what benny's come from the reflash besides the extended RPM and no MPH limit. Is it worth getting the ECM done? I am hoping you guy's can help me out on that. I do get some popping now mostly when it's cold outside and the bike is warmed up all the way it's not that bad. The bike has less than 8000 miles on it since I put it back together from a wreck, it had 2500 when I got it in FEB. I want to know the pro's and con's on this set-up please and thanks in advance. Dain

Dain, my bike has the the set up your installing. The bike performs very well, driveability is excellent. It has ~109hp and 109 torque, I don't have the ECM change, which I believe is a personal choice. The bike gets 41 mpg on the highway, and I have the idle air valve from Lloyd installed. It's to a point now that I can ride all day somedays and not have an exhaust pop. I admire you putting the bike together after the wreck and doing your own cams. When you talk to Lloyd, ask him about some of the neat tools he has to make the cam job easier. Good luck!

Dain,
First: Welcome, belatedly to the community. I haven't been keeping up much lately due to a new house, new wife and NEW 2000 SQ FT SHOP!!! :-) I have also painstakenly tore down and rebuilt my bike after sliding down the interstate as well. The only difference in our stock set ups is I have the Lvl2 exhaust. I supposedly have a little more HP but you'd have a little more torque and I doubt anyone would be able to feel this performance difference. As for the ECM: If you plan on the VFCIII (since youre doing the cams, I'm sure you have that covered), the software is written for a baseline bike (no exhaust mod flash) and I believe the bike is supposed to be flashed back to stock before/after the VFCIII install. Mine never was and it's not that big a deal but it is a good idea. Why not spend a few more $ and let Lloyd do HIS magic to your ECM? I think the quote is $250 but its been a few months since I emailed Lloyd so I can't remember for sure. Anyway, that is my thought as I am in need of flashing back to stock and intend to send the ECM off to Lloydz this month instead. I'm also looking to get the ECM flash because the rev limiter NEEDS to be adjusted to hit to the "sweet spot" between 5th and 6th gear. The other gear shift points are ok, IMO. I don't know if it will help with my exhaust popping. I was fortunate enough to have had a "cam party" being hosted near my location, and I couldn't have bought the parts for what Kevin X was charging. It was a no-brainer on my part to have it done by him. I was going to do the cam job myself before serendipity stepped in, so I got lucky. I had already done the VFCIII and the dual intake. I had the VFC settings screwed up quite a bit because I was experimenting with the exhaust. The only thing I would offer is to take it one step at a time. I would do the cams and make sure the timing and everything didn't accidently get changed before throwing a freshly flashed ECM into the equation. Both SHOULD be okay but it sure is a pain in the ass to troubleshoot a problem after the shotgun approach. Good luck, see ya around.
