Apopka, FL | We started our 200 mile ride from Apopka to Micanopy, FL and home about 9 a.m. I started the day on my Vision Tour Premium. It was 55*. Not bad on a Vision. One of my buddies is a Victory affection-ado and rides a 2005 TCD. Some of you may know that I rode a 2002 TCD for over 4 years and 40k miles, so I know TCs. But you tend to only remember only the good and forget the bad; that's human nature. I had offered to let my friend ride my new VV sometime during the day. I made the mistake of letting H ride my bike before the sun came out and warmed up Central Florida. I had also loaned him my better (heavier) gloves because his gloves had a blowout. My thin gloves were totally fine for the VV with my heated grips in the ON position. Had the seat on too!
First thing I noticed when I fired up his TCD w/Stage 1 is the great growl the 92s had. I forgot that I sat up so high on my TC. My feet did not hit the ground as easily as on my VV. Felt like I was sitting on a BMW. I took off and remembered the torque these smaller plants had also. Shifting thru the 5 was a blast and could rock you back. But quickly, I remembered the limitations of the TC when the cold blast of air came up from below the tank someplace and swirled all around my head, chest and hands. Wish I had my better gloves now. I had my chaps and leather jacket on, so I wasn't getting too chilled except my hands. But there was a lot of good old-fashioned buffeting. And not the Jimmy kind. Braking was very good on the old girl. My first big corner, and wow, she didn't lean like the Vision leans. Almost overshot the turn and had to forcefully counter-steer. I think I rode my TC as good as anyone and I got used to riding H's around the turns during my 30 mile test ride, but you take for granted how easily the Vision follows your every whim! I also remember the riding position of my TC; always wanted to get the pull back bars, but never did. I had to reach about 2" farther than I wanted on the TC. The seat was comfy though; I had scavenged & sold H my Mustang w/custom sheepskin cover when I sold my bike.
I will say, I was totally ready to trade back to my Vision. When I test drove a XC last fall deciding whether to buy a VV or a XC, the XC had the same buffeting issues my TCD had. I understand that can be changed and corrected with the correct lowers and swapping out the windshield, but the VV didn't need either! What a TOTAL pleasure she is to ride. Every time I take her out, I just keep thinking, "WOW". I made a great decision when I bought her. |

New Bohemia, Va | Thanks for the report Doc, it is a good reminder when you ride another bike other than the Vision on how good they are. However, I would love to have a Vegas Low or an Indian for those spin around the block on a good summer day. |
