I'm really kinda liking the look & feel of my Vision with the trunk removed. It has a very sleek appearance.

I got the backrest & luggage bracket from Lonewolf (thanks !) so now my wife and I can do the day trips without the trunk in place.

The drawback to it is that we have no stereo, Ipod or intercom without the trunk on.

Could I just take the unit that is in the compartment under the trunk that has the CB,stereo & comm and mount it under the panel cover ?

I know right off the bat there is a line that goes to the PPT & volume on the left side of the trunk but will it work without those plugged in ? Or would I have to rig another set of switches up to keep the system all linked together ?

I also know I would have to install another headset plug in for her.

I know I could use a wireless system but we already have all the J&M stuff for our helmets and I don't want to have to swap those out all the time.

Does anyone have a schematic of the CB/intercom wiring ?

Why would you not have any stereo or Ipod? I can understand not having the intercom since that is tied into the CB module, but you still have speakers up front in the fairing and the radio module should work normally as a it does on the Vision Street model.

There have been a couple that have run the CB module without having the trunk and I believe they mounted it in one of the saddlebags and routed all the wiring in there for it, then zip tied the passenger headset hookup to the left grab rail. You need to mount a cb antenna to the the backrest or luggage rack and then tune the antenna for SWR (you might want to go to a good cb shop to have this done properly). I believe the system will work without the switches you are talking about but there is probably someone here that can better answer your question.

Plug the ipod in the glove box, place the radio on AUX and ride away listening to the ipod. You just can't change the song with the switches on the bike. Good luck, that is how I did it on my 2009 and it is wired in the saddlebag on my 2011.

I meant keeping it so that we can hear through our headsets - not the speakers.

The cb won't fit under the panel. The dealer had to install it in the saddlebag.

I had them install a metal plate under the back panel, so I can use the cb.

Everything works.

I've seen one installation where the owner mounted the CB/Intercom unit in a small box which he mounted UNDER his luggage rack. He mounted the passenger's controls and headset jack in the top of the left saddlebag, under the grab handle. The antenna was also mounted to the luggage rack. It looked like a very clean installation.

I installed the cb/intercom unit under the rear panel. I had to trim the mounting tabs off of it and used velcro pads to hold it down. It is pretty tight but does fit. I made a bracket and mounted the antenna to the back of the license plate bracket. Yes it holds it. I have my ersonal antenna mounted in the same location. I mounted all of the controls and outlets in the flat area under the assenger handles also. It does look really clean. I have done this on 3 different bikes. Looks like it was a factory install. If I remember correctly, I had to get a trunk harness for some of the connections it all needed. I will have to check to be sure. Wish I had taken some pics of them now!

Your IPod or ITouch (what I have) can be plugged into the two quick connects (one inside the glovebox, one next to the glovebox under the tank) using the splitter cable ($100.00) from Victory.
This allows you to charge your device and also use your radio controls to search for music.

I don't plan on using the CB so can I install the little metal (I think it's called a shunt) connector to the unit when the antenna is not connected to keep from burning out the unit ?

Yes. It's a dummy load intended to keep you from burning up your transmitter should you accidentally key it up without an antenna hooked up.

Here's how the local dealer installed the cb unit. This is in the left hand side saddle bag
