I printed the install instructions off the site for my shop to replace the factory 2820 with a 550. We have volume for about a second and it fades out. My shop thinks it needs a preamp. He also mentioned he used a stereo plug would a mono help. We have tried all different wiring methods same problem. I am leaving for 6 months in a week and would like to get this resolved. Thanks.

You DO NOT need a pre amp!!! Mine works fine on my '09 Vision audio comes through loud and clear!! A Zumo 550 is MONO audio not stereo, so you should use a mono plug...Or just wire it into the Vision like the directions show with the connectors and stuff....Candubrian has a GREAT write up on it either here or on the VOG...can't remember which!
