I purchased a Stinger single rail trailer. The tie down brackets are welded to the rear axle of the trailer that falls directly in line with the rear tip overs. The problem is they are only about 12" apart. I purchased the new Ancra ratchet both way straps but they are to long. I looked around today and cannot find any ratchet straps that are shorter. I don't want to use cam buckle straps, don't trust them. I thought about soft ties around the engine mounts, but they straps would be on the paint. It is very important on the Stinger to get the rear tied down properly.

Does anyone have any other ideas. I need to get the tie downs up higher in the rear and away from the paint. I am leaving in a week and am getting desperate.

Why not go around the rear wheel.
Keep in mind you just don't want it to bounce into the wall or side ways. I have wrapped my tie down around the rear tire many times and never had a problem.
Don't pull the front end down to tight where you blow the seals.

Have enough room to go underneath the bike to the other side? Meaning hook the left tipover to the right side tie-down bracket and vice-versa. And also there is a slotted area in the rear swingarm that works great for tie down.

I usually just wrap through the rear tire. It does not have to be tied down. It is just to keep it from moving sideways. That is on a flat trailer though. A rail may be different.

Thanks for the replies so far. The big problem is on the Stinger rail trailer, the rear must be very secure or you get wobble in the front. I will look for the slot on the swing arm and also try over the rear tire.

why don't you just get more tie down brackets welded on?

I used the rear engine mount. It is up high enough to give you downforce and is long enough for the ratchet type straps
