I have come across a situation where after I turn off my Vision while riding short distances, like riding to work or to lunch during the day, the elapsed time clock and the average fuel milage guages reset in a manner that looks like the battery had been momentarily disconnected.  My Vision is up to date with all recalls and service bulletins and I am wondering if this happens to anyone else?

Mine does that....And....Mine always goes from Ipod to no reception fm every time I turn off the bike. The joys of having an unready electrical miracle.

I wonder if the 09's have these dilemnas....

This problem, which really is more of a nuisnce than a problem, is intermittent, sometimes it happens every time I turn the bike off then on again and sometimes like this last period it has gone months since it last happened. I have also noticed a change in the way the bike runs immediately after this happens, it runs rougher, like the ECM has reset and lost it's memory of information gathered by the O2 sensors and IAT sensor (the IAT though would only affect running during warm up though).

Puzzling.

Golfer, mine does something similar. If I turn the bike off with the audio system ON and set to AUX (iPod) then the AUX comes up right away the next time I start the bike. If I turn the audio system off (even set to AUX) and then turn the bike off, when I next start the bike and then turn on the audio system it will have defaulted to the last FM station I had the radio set to. This is quirky to me, but not an issue.

Reviving an old thread... I've noticed this twice now on my 2009 Ness Vision.  Both times I'm taking a BIG trip and want to see how many "hours in the saddle" I'm logging and sometime before I reach the end, I notice the elapsed time is reset! DOH!!!  Any solutions found?

I'm not sure the rhyme or reason for that to happen, but I was specifically using the elaspe time to measure a trip, but it would reset without even reseting anything else. I don't use that thing at all. I'll use trip 2 to measure overall trips, but the timer, never.

Mine does it but I still have stock battery so I'm thinking battery is getting bad. I started using kill switch cause that shuts power off to every thing even brain box or ECM if you like

My battery is good.  The first time it happened to me I thought I had accidently bumped the button and reset it... this time I made real sure that I was NOT doing it my self.  Very strange indeed!  I'm a real geek when it comes to data.  I like to measure things, etc. etc.  So this is a bummer that it is experienced by many but not addressed.  Has anyone with a newer Vision had this experience?

I have a 2011 ABS but it is the European version and I have never had any problems with the time or any other counter resetting. The radio turns on on the last option used normally the FM station I was last listening too. I wonder if its one of those miracle fixes that happen as the model matures in versions......

My '08 does it. The electronics of the '08s weren't quite ready for prime time. The temperature gauge is only accurate above the freezing mark too. First model year glitches. Still the best bike I've ever owned in 47 years of riding though. The 2001 GL1800 Goldwings came out with a lot more problems than that. Cracked frames, overheating, ghost shifting transmissions, etc. Some of them didn't get fixed for several model years. Overall, Victory did a good job on the Vision on the first try.

No problems with any of the data which is accessed with my left index finger (the button behind the clutch lever). The readouts I have trouble with are temp and gear. The temp is way off when below freezing and +or- 5 degress when above freezing. The gear indicator looks like the gas pump when I have the nozzle WFO.

I also have never experienced this on my 2011. I would highly recommend that if you haven't gotten your bike's ECM flashed with the latest / greatest, and the Radio flash updates done, you should do so. I would bet these software updates will fix known issues like this, much the same way that Microsoft releases fixes, patches, and updates to it's operating system. You can think of the ECM flash as just that, the bike's operating system. It doesn't just control fuel and timing, it controls many other aspects of the bike, combined with the fixes inherent in the latest radio software.

I have an 08 Vision with these problems also. But the wife and I were out on a trip and I was watching the clock and guess what. It resets itself at 24 hours. I was watching and went from 23:59 to 00:00 all by its self. Must be a factory thing.

I have a 2011 8 Ball and have never had those issues. Of course, I do not have a factory radio, but installed my own non Vic. And I always use the Kill switch to shut off my ride. Perhaps a bad habit, but I have done that forever~
