Well, my very first long distance ride is a memory. And what a memory it is.
My Victory Vision 8Ball performed flawlessly. The Vision handled interstates, back roads, heat, cold, rain, wind, altitude and everything else that I threw at it, and handled it all with no complaints.
Just a few notes...
- The power windshield is by far the best, most practical addition to my bike. Being able to adjust on the move is not just convenient, but a safety feature as well. The difference in stability, especially at interstate speeds and around the big rigs, is amazing.
- Be very sure you tighten everything before leaving. I thought I did that until my right side armrest flew off and still resides somewhere in Kansas.
- At pretty much every stop, whether for fuel, lunch, hotel, etc. the Vision was the center of attention. I can't tell you how many times folks would come up and ask about the Vision. One of my Goldwing friends commented that he was going to start selling tickets.
- It's great to know that if you had a choice of owning any bike, that even after a trip like this, the Vision is still the answer.

Great pictures and narratives of the trip. You covered a LOT of good roads. A friend and I just returned from 3700 mile trip to the North country, as far as Glacier, where we were 48 hrs too early to ride the entire Going To The Sun road; only got to ride 13.5 miles in from St Mary's East entrance. And, we did make Beartooth too, but rained on us from about halfway up to halfway down the other side, so too nasty to stop at top; that was disappointing!
You guys have a great sense of humor too in your posts!

Hey Brandon,
It was great meeting you too. I think I told you this but Nitemare was the first Victory we saw on the trip, after 2000+ miles. For the entire trip (5000 + miles) we saw a total of 3, yep only three. Victory must the the best kept secret out there.
FYI, thanks for the Victory dealer tip. Unfortunately he did not have time to change my oil, so we changed it in the hotel parking lot. 2500 mile oil change range on a 5000+ mile trip is tough. I changed the oil before, during and just after I got back.
Ride Safe...
Jerry
